This is the year of Perfect Dark! which is set in 2023, against the backdrop of an interstellar war between two alien races: the Maians, who resemble the archetypal Grey alien, and the Skedar, reptile-like creatures who use a cloaking device to appear human.
The game was released on 22/05/2000, Exactly 23 years and 1 day ago.
There are rumors that say we will have a remake instead of a reboot soon, in the meantime I wanted to do this love letter to my favorite FPS.

I decided to make Area 51: Infiltration since is one of my favorite levels, and I considered it to be perfect to test Unreal Engine capabilities, it is a mix between fortress, labs, turrets, vehicles, underground areas and nature.
The level is fully playable with some fixes to do, I am very new in UE5 so as you may see the render quality is not the best, there are some animation mistakes and such...Also the fps are too low at some points because my pc is also not that powerful, but I had a lot of fun making this level and I hope you like it if you are a fan of PD! I tried to gave the true feeling/vibe of the old 64 game.

We don´t know yet if we will have a remake or a reboot in the near future from Crystal Dynamics, in the meantime I wanted to do this tribute to PD64, ofc this would never be as good as the original game lol.

This level was created using Third Person Shooter Kit v2.1 as base project, which is an amazing asset that you can find on the Epic Games Store. Almost all the features in the video are from there so it was perfect to make something related to PD64.
There are a lot of assets from Sketchfab, I will try to add all the authors but if you identify something made by you and want me to put the credit please let me know.
The model of Joanna Dark was made by Aleon from Sketchfab, I just re edited the textures and did some changes in Zbrush, Marmoset and Blender in order to make it work with UE, also gave her a Metahuman face and used animations from Lyra, RE5 and Mixamo.
I used the original sounds of N64 version and tried to experiment with a mix between FPS and Third person. I know Laptop gun, Combat boost or Cloaking device are not available in the original N64 mission, but wanted to play with those features as well.
