A massive congratulations to our ladies on what has been an amazing Euro tournament this year. They brought the trophy home and did the whole nation proud. Now I think they should revamp the Three Lions song and include commentry from the lionesses especially those 2 goals in that amazing final. That would be awesome.

I am sitting here in my study with a window facing the playing fields in my little village and I am supposed to be working but clicked this and I am so proud of them but what makes me even prouder is this country pushes and promotes women in all sports. On the field there is a tournament going on and it's all girls. from 5 years upwards to17. The most amazing thing is all the boys are also out there encouraging them on. That is the result of accepting that girls can play football and they can play it well

I hope this puts to bed the idea that English coaches are great but just not getting opportunities (particularly when discussing the Premier League). English coaches criminally mismanage talented groups of players with their outdated ideas, look what Wiegman was able to achieve with this squad. Meanwhile Netherlands who were Europe's leading team throughout 2017-19 appointed an Englishman and began to play the English way: park 9 players in their own half with one isolated centre-forward.

Germany did give them some nervy or scary moments, but they prevailed. That is how got them their first EURO trophy. I am so happy for all England and their fans to celebrate their first EURO trophy at home, and not only that for their coach Sarina Wiegman to coach back-to-back EURO winners, first her native Netherlands (2017 EURO Champion and host), now England (the host). Coach of the Year award perhaps. I think she is one of the nominees.

@@yoshiwoollyworld Anybody who went into that match thinking either England or Italy were the favourites had another thing coming. That match was as 50/50 as it got, and a penalty shootout solidifies that even more. Therefore, there was no "disgrace/bottling up" on the men's part in that final, it just wasn't their day.

I've been watching football for 60 years. Ninety-nine percent of it, men's. But this raised the hair on my head with excitement like few other games ever have. Absolutely first rate performance from the Lionesses. Well done, Germany, too. Might have something to do with the total lack of prima donnas on this team. Southgate: learn the lesson. I wanted England to win, but I felt sorry for Lena Oberdorf when I saw her crying. Such an intuitive, omnipresent, strong player, and still so young. It means so much to them. But then again, it also meant SO much for the English women, not to mention England as a nation.

When you see knackered players still fighting hard in extra time, it is also about luck. Both teams were very good. It comes to this for me: Germany has so many trophies already, and England had hungered for decades, so I am happy for them!

Absolutely to grace any final makes wonder if the mens team can copy that 🤔 🧐 but hold on a minute they had that chance in last year final against Italy 🇮🇹 a missed opportunity that will never happen again I'm afraid to say
