Hughes was part of the older generation of fighters where wrestling and ground and pound ruled, and you didn’t need to know how to strike. Then he started facing wrestlers he couldn’t take down and who had better striking skills, so he was fucked. Tito Ortiz the same thing.

@DP-eo5xd4 жыл бұрын
Danny Holder debatable. The best wrestler he faced in his “prime” was Sean Shark who is too small for WW. Again I think Hughes is great but he benefited from just being a better wrestler than the competition and was a horrible striker. When other wrestlers with better striking entered the mix Hughes was obsolete.

Matt was one of the best ever. Hopefully he can recover from his accident and live a somewhat normal life.

Whew that was the drained out welterweight rumble... if they had fought at LHW or HW, which is rumbles walk around weight, it would’ve been a different story

All due respect, both these guys in their primes would get smoked by today's fighters. Crazy how fast MMA has evolved.

Beastmode - so would like 95% of fighters
@derekparisian20234 жыл бұрын
That's a false statement. Knockout power is knockout power. MMA hasn't "evolved" it's just newer fighters in their prime. They get new talent every year that are good in their trained specialties. Chuck Liddell in his prime could still knockout half of these new fighters. You can't compare the past to present. All the big names from 2005-2012 were beasts and the best of their time. People still say Mike Tyson can beat everyone today in his prime easily.
@damiandadmn4 жыл бұрын
Beastmode GTFOH, that's complete bullshit. The divisions today are trash, when these 2 guys were around there was loads of talent in all divisions and they were all good. The 2005 to 2013 era shits on today's era, not even comparable don't try.

Another example of how deceiving the commentary makes the matches. I wish we could get just in cage audio
@MegaZack614 жыл бұрын
Yea its weird they dont offer that. Generally I dont mind the commentary but when I hear shit like Cruz saying: By eating these big shots on his face, he is gassing his opponent. I question why they are even commentators.
