Woman’s World is such a major back-peddle for Katy in terms of her evolution. The lyricism saddens me because of how soulless and contrived they are; She is miles above all of this. Ultimately it feels as though there is still that fruitless desire to recapture the career-high of Teenage Dream in which yes it was a Golden Age of Pop Music, but I think her trying to match that has made her musically unidentifiable. Katy is a Pop legend, and I want her artistry to be respected and appreciated, but a true artist’s mindset is evolution and growth, not the scattered desire to compete with something that you end up losing yourself within 🙏🏽 Side note: Honest I’d really love for you to do videos for ranking’s artist’s singles throughout their careers like you did with Taylor Swift; That would really be a great segment from you. 🙏🏽🫧

Doja made it clear she was under contract and couldn’t choose not to work with him. Idk about the others. But this is KATY PERRY. She could’ve chosen anyone.

This song/ comeback reminds me of Fergie's M.I.L.F. $. Of course they don't have the same sound, but the similarities are they both had children and returned to making music and they're all about female empowerment but they just cannot translate it well into music without having that out of touch chaotic vibe that sounds dated and cringy.

And they both tried to rely on their sex appeal when their time being the sexy it girl has long since passed.

I saw Apple Music interview and Katy showed some snippets of songs on the album and idk if it was her or her team that chose this single but those snippets of the other songs sounded so much better and not cheesy idk why she chose this song

As a fan, I share the same sentiments. A growth arc in her musicality would've been nice. Audiences would've ate that shit up. Definitely disappointed.
@phillinsogoodАй бұрын
The song was so bad. It’s just so forced & overly generic. The music video was just as bad. Katy Perry has lost her touch unfortunately & is a 2010’s pop fad

I recently discovered Bonnie McKee who was a cowriter on many of Katy’s number one hits including Teenage Dream, Last Friday Night, California Gurls, Part of Me, Wide Awake, Roar, Birthday and Legendary Lovers. Definitely check out her work. She’s a great singer and really understands visuals. She had her own complicated record deal and issues with releasing a stalled album. Katy definitely had a lot of magic in her first few albums but based on this latest release there’s some missing special sauce. Is it Bonnie? Maybe, maybe not.

I looked up the whole dr Luke / Kesha situation and somehow y’all made me think he actually r worded her 💀 I’m so confused. there was no evidence shown in any of the articles I read and they dropped the case last year so does that mean they’re just going to let it go and move on?
@sunsetpov824Ай бұрын
I’m genuinely trying to learn more abt this case because I’m very interested in it. I don’t think Kesha lied but I also don’t think he was the one who did it? Or maybe I’m wrong? Again I’m so confused

@sunsetpov824 The thing is, he's a really big name in the music industry, so even if he's a grapist no one is gonna do anything about it.
@highland_persuasionАй бұрын
While Ava Max' sound seems perpetually stuck in 2009, Katy sonically can't seem to move on from 2014. The thing is, there can only really be a few girls who capitalize on camp in the industry for a given period. Katy was one of those girls a decade ago. This year, Sabrina Carpenter fills that void, but with visuals that are sharper and less cartoonish, as well as lyrics that are wittier, less clunky and even more tongue-in-cheek.

It's not her association with Dr. Luke, but HOW her association with Dr. Luke is. -Doja had a contract with him and got writing/producer credits regardless if he had actually any work. -Same with Saweetie -Lil Durk is currently paying the price as we speak for working with him. It's the fact Katy is willingly working with him, which makes the public care. Trust me it's not fake care, it's how things go down.

Considering how country music is really in right now, I feel like Katy would do really well in that genre right now, or a record leaning more towards ballads, she totally has the voice for it and it would be a new side of her that we don't always see
@BarbaravieirabАй бұрын
What people don't know is that artists like Katy Perry when doing good, the more they have voice to sing and do what they want... The less success, the more the record company will they you what to were, how to look, what producers you will have to record a song of. So maybe that's what happened, due to lack of success on the last years, the record company fully told her what to do
@niabelizaire3596Ай бұрын
Katy is still stuck in the Teenage Dream era, her music has fallen behind the times.
@joser4573Ай бұрын
She had all this excitement for her comeback, and she completely failed it. She could’ve done something huge, and the icing on the cake, she decides to work with Dr. Luke. She’s getting so much backlash and getting dragged. And quite frankly as a katycat myself, I think she deserves it, she needs a wake up call (as if she didn’t already get one during the witness era, you would think 🙄😪). She brought this upon herself by making the most stupidest choices. Her team is absolutely horrible. And if it’s not her team and it’s her choices, she needs a better team around her.

Considering her past controversies and recent interactions with far right figures such as Ben Shapiro and Elon Musk, it's quite obvious that she was always a problematic person, so the behind the scenes drama is not very surprising. What is surprising is that a pop veteran came back with a super derivative and mid song about feminism with a misogynist behind it. I don't know what came over her, she could have worked with Jack Antonoff, Cirkut, Dan Nigro, Max Martin and many other in demand producers, if she was desperate for a hit.

One MAJOR thing about Katy is that she lacks vulnerability and relatability, all the contemporary girlies today shown a side about themselves that we can understand, Katy however never does that.
