Something pretty good sized. Probably 6000-8000 but a lot of it boils down to what you're fishing for and personal preference

I have a 12 ft med heavy spinning. And I love it so much I’m buying a 12ft heavy conventional. If you’re going to do a lot of casting or do jetty fishing. Go a little shorter like 10. They are heavy but tough rods. I surf fish so I gotta get it out there.
