Labour is set to win a UK general election landslide with a majority of 170, according to an exit poll for the BBC, ITV and Sky.
The Conservatives are predicted to slump to 131 MPs, their lowest number in post-war history.
The Liberal Democrats are projected to come third with 61 MPs.
The Scottish National Party will see its number of MPs fall to 10 and Reform UK is forecast to get 13 MPs, according to the exit poll.
The Green Party of England and Wales is predicted to double its number of MPs to two and Plaid Cymru are set to get four MPs. Others are forecast to get 19 seats.
At the past five UK general elections, the exit poll has been accurate to within a range of 1.5 and 7.5 seats.
BBC's Jeremy Vine looks at where the Conservatives may have lost seats.

As someone from The United States, I have to keep reminding myself that The British Conservative Party is Blue & The British Liberal Party is Red, while here our Conservative Party is Red & our Liberal Party is Blue. Also, The British actually have a lot of people from other Parties in their government while we have at best a dozen members of Congress that aren't Republicans nor Democrats.
@RealUlrichLeland
@RealUlrichLeland 2 күн бұрын
The British Liberal party (The Liberal democrats) are orange. Until the first world war our elections were always a two horse race between the conservatives and liberals, but the working classes got sick of being used as cannon fodder and started voting for the labour party instead so now the top two parties are labour and the Tories. In the past labour were a strongly socialist party, but currently they are relatively centrist, and historically the lib Dems have been centrist but now in many ways they're significantly more left wing than labour. British politics is in some ways similar to American politics, but in some ways they're very different. The economic agenda of the democrats is hardly even seen as left wing over here, and the republicans are much more like our hard right parties like Reform UK. Third parties are also much more important here. In the devolved parliaments of Scotland and Northern Ireland the SNP and Sinn Fein respectively were the dominant parties at their last elections so they are each important at a national level. Minor parties are especially important in local council elections, where even very small parties can get a role in local government.

@@Omnipotent-Q There was never a standard colour. It would switch between networks and elections. It was only after the 2000 election debacle that the idea of "red" and "blue" solidified in the US, based off the Time Magazine color scheme, IIRC.

@@Omnipotent-Q: When tvs were in black & white, there was no way to distinguish the parties by color on screens. During the 1970s to 1980s the color system was enacted but it varied from elections & on tv channels. It's all part of the global plan, where every effort is made (exclusively by media in Western countries), to ensure that clarity of thought among citizens is destroyed and that confusion reigns supreme. For example,,,, men can become pregnant, there are more than 16 genders, 6 year olds are asked to decide what gender they want to be, printing trillions of dollars has no consequences, paying a carbon tax will save the planet while that revenue is sent to Ukraine, opening borders and letting undocumented migrants in is good for the country, and water is not wet.
