Thank you for another great flashback. There were so many great songs at that time, just look at the top 20, almost every song is a classic! My personal faves from the top 50 are One Night in Bangkok, Drive & I'm So Excited.

One best years for pop never know a year so popular and well like at the time and never been year l know where it’s been like more by people Which had tight charts with singles everybody knew and like today

Surprised “We Are Family” was there… was a hit in the U.S. back in 1979!

It was originally a hit (number 8 in June) in the UK in 1979 as well,along with He's the Greatest Dancer (6,April) and Lost in Music (17,September). For some reason two of that trio were re-issued in 1984.

@@rjjcms1 Ummmm how could you not hear they were both remixes?? One by Nile Rodgers + one by Bernard Edwards- I mean that was common knowledge as been on many documentaries about that etc

Where did the video for "I'm So Excited" come from? It has scenes from THE BREAKFAST CLUB of Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson dancing...a film that wasn't released until the following year.

Haha,well spotted. Two different songs with very nearly the same name,by two different groups. I clocked that at the time in 1984 but I'm 99.9% sure it was a complete coincidence.

I understood Billy Ocean recorded several versions of his song for different markets..."African Queen" and "European Queen", as well as "Caribbean Queen"--wouldn't England have gotten the European version?
