Russia, in truth, is producing very little through its defence industry. What it is doing though is refurbishing a lot of outdated ex-Soviet kit that’s been poorly stored outside for decades and so requires major refurbishment to make it fit for purpose. Unfortunately for Russia, those old stockpiles of ex-Soviet kit are now running low on donor vehicles that are not so stuffed that they’re simply not viable for repair. Russia, a great manufacturing nation in any sphere whatsoever? No, they’re ok at bodging outdated old garbage together well enough for it to become the final resting place of yet another few grossly misled and abused Russians in uniform, but bulk manufacturing weapons and munitions? Not a snowball’s chance in the hottest place of all.
