The problem with giving Ron Johnson air time is that he doesn’t know what he is talking about: US taxpayer spent this money decades ago when the weapons that are being sent to Ukraine were built. The US taxpayer will continue to pay for secure storage of these weapons and munitions until they are either given/sold to a cause like Ukraine or they are dumped. It’s not that current US taxpayers can’t afford to give them; its that it makes no economic sense to keep then when allies (people whose interests are aligned with the US’s) could use them to advance shared interests. So many Americans don’t understand that the US can’t exist without a global mindset. Even when someone in a country on the other side of the world hacks their identity or bank account, with the connivance of that country’s government. How did so many people become so ignorant so quickly? People like Ron Johnson were given air time.

300 km is NOT a long range. 500 km is barely mid range, 1,000 is a long range. Ukraine needs at least 500km range which Storm Shadow can deliver provided it is the for own use French British version, not the 250km export version. The 500km range would allow Ukraine to hit the Russian Black Sea fleet in its home ports as well as the Kerch bridge.

Great conversation. I maintain a positive view of Ukraine's future given the tragic dithering of the Republican - led House in delaying necessary support to Ukraine's defenses. This is that without sufficient munitions and machines both offensive and defensive Ukraine has had to dig deeper within their rather substantial capabilities to fight and survive (I doubt even Americans could match one for one the fierce Ukrainians in a contest!). Now with a considerable supply of munitions Ukraine will use them with greater efficiency and deadlier effect. Add to this, that Ukrainian's European neighbors have been stepping up to their responsibilities to link arms together with Ukraine, to fight this scourge within their own region!

GEN Syrskyi is NOT a legacy Soviet maneuver leader like GEN Zaluzhny. GEN Syrskyi was born in Russia and trained as a Soviet Commander. Nevertheless, GEN Syrskyi spent much time in Ukrainian Military Command acting as a NATO liaison. He seems far more NATO influenced in head military philosophy. It was GEN Syrskyi who actually Commanded Units defending Kviv in 2022. It was GEN Syrskyi who also Command Units which liberated Kupiansk, Izium, and Lyman in the Ukrainian Kharkiv Offensive. These were good signs of NATO schemes of maneuver being executed. GEN Syrskyi took over Military Command just prior to the fall of Ukrainian defenses in Avdiivka. GEN Zaluzhny did not leave GEN Syrskyi with a robust Avdiivka defense plan. This forced GEN Syrskyi to use a NATO scheme of inserting a fresh battle hardened Unit into an immediate difficult fight so that another mauled Unit could be retrograded and salvaged to as great a degree as possible. This was achieved at Avdiivka by GEN Syrskyi. Additionally, GEN Syrskyi used another NATO scheme called a fighting retreat as rear defensive lines were hastily constructed. This Operational Level strategy was executed in a series of Tactical Level maneuvers and bought time to build 2 Defense Lines. So far it has only failed at part of 1 point where a Russian breach succeeded. NATO allies of Ukraine are stepping up in terms of Industrial Level war support. However, Ukraine’s current biggest weakness is self made: a manpower shortage. Ukraine needs to recruit about 150,000 troops per year. They need 10,000 to 15,000 per month or 35,000 to 40,000 per quarter. All these troops need NATO quality Basic Training and AIT (equipment/specialty) training outside Ukraine in NATO countries. This 2 part training takes 4 to 8 months depending on AIT. Next is 3 months in Germany to train as Companies and then Battalions. Those troops AIT for Battalion Staff support need all 3 months in a Battalion TOC, battle planning and also monitoring Company Level training as if they were monitoring a battlefield operation. Finally, Battalions will be inserted into Ukraine in low risk areas along the Polish, Slovakian, Hungarian, Moldavian, Romanian, and Belarus borders. For 3 months they will practice Brigade Level maneuvers including moving to new locations. Then it’s 3 months along the Russian border from Kviv to Kharkiv. Finally, it’s up to 18 months on an active frontline with daily challenges. This is how 36 months of mobilization will look like to a good military training program. No trained troops will be demobilized until after the war. KIA and WIA beyond return to battle, are the only troops removed from the register. After 36 months, all fit troops will be reassigned to National Guard Units near their homes and families. They will drill monthly and train annually as a Unit. They can be Activated for service at anytime for up to an additional 18 months. All time served will count towards retirement points and preferred employment points in government jobs. This is in addition to any medical or disability benefits earned.

The long rage ATACMS has a range of 300 km for the unitary model. This is the model that makes all of Crimea, including the Kerch bridge. Combined the with the naval munitions from the UK, the key Kerch bridge in significant jeopardy.

Consider what you have seen in the US. The parties who believe what is happening in Ukraine needs to be addressed have successfully pushed inaction to the far back of the room. Ukraine will have aid in the future from the US, most certainly. I am a veteran in NY, so I can say my representatives have not wavered from Ukraine, and I certainly have not. People need to realize the UK has given more support than most. Look at GDP per capita for Ukraine aid. BTW, the US has said we are sending munitions directly from US and NATO stocks already in Europe with exceptionally fast replacement. Additional stock development looks very likely. We are looking at a stronger military industrial base here.
