Parliament will meet for the final time today before the general election on Thursday 4 July.
At the end of business, @UKParliament will be prorogued with a ceremony in the #HouseOfLords chamber.

A historical throwback to the Norman Conquest when French was the language of the Ruling Class, it was gradually replaced by English, but even the Royal Coat of Arms inscription is still in French, Dieu et mon droit ('God and my right') as are some other coats of arms and things like The Order of the Garter.

Noble Lords and Ladies, I would ask you to consider the importance of having a strong police presence in the community, twice a day. On all school routes to and from school. There are a lot of KZfaq videos showing school children being abducted by people in cars on their way to and from school. These traffickers..One walks along, grabs the child as a car pulls up and the child is forced into the car. There are videos of men grabbing pushchairs. Given how many people who come from such countries as has poediphilia at common placement within their society. I do see a need for a strong police presence at these times of the day and along each school route. Thank you.

It can be singular or plural. The prorogation is a single purpose event and can be referred to as a proceeding.

In Commonwealth Realms, the King is a separate Sovereign to the Sovereign of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. That's why he says "And of Our Other Realms and Territories, King). The Governor-General of those countries acts in the stead of the King, issuing Letters Patent under the seals of the individual countries. For instance, in my country, Letters Patent are sealed under the Great Seal of the Realm of New Zealand. In the Crown Dependencies, it's a little bit different, but essentially the same. Most members of the Commonwealth though are not Commonwealth Realms, and don't recognise the sovereignty of the King.
