Also known as Manningtree Station Level Crossing.
Located on the Great Eastern Main Line (GEML) by Manningtree station. The barriers here are quite old, and the barrier skirts have been fixed together with tape. A single-lane low underpass is right beside this crossing. Overheight vehicles must use the crossing if they can't fit underneath the underpass.

Awesome video and capture of the soon-to-be-no-more 90/82 pairing! I really quite like this level crossing - It actually felt quite cool recording here back when I did in March this year! It is nice how it is above that low railway bridge, and how the two middle tracks on the crossing here are interlaced because of the junction for the Mayflower Line directly to the right of shot. Nice contrast between the previous and current intercity trains from Greater Anglia with the 745 also passing! 👍👍😁

Thanks! 😊 Yeah this is definitely a cool crossing. Very reminiscent of former Ely, but most reminds me of Great Chesterford in Essex.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel that's fantastic! If you ever come up to Dundee you should go to Broughty Ferry level crossing. Trains always surprise you as the noise of the approach is sometimes blocked out by Buses etc. I go on the platform 2 heading towards Dundee as you get a better view.

Yeah I've heard of that crossing. Unfortunately never travelled as far as Scotland.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I hope you aren't scared. Us Scots are harmless for the most part. Many great videos of the crossing on KZfaq so you can just watch it on KZfaq rather than travel up here :)

Once I had to wait at that crossing for 20 minutes! There were 3 or 4 trains, really wish my mum had gone through the underpass

didn't realise you had done this one, an interesting crossing as its got points in the middle. as i live in Ipswich when ever i pass i always go over the crossing instead of under the bridge and 95% of the barriers are down! very busy crossing, often you can be stuck here up to ten minutes with multiple trains passing and not very long between activations. on some occasions you will see the Harwich town come in to Manningtree and terminate and come out again!

Yeah, it did this one back in February. It is certainly quite a busy crossing. I think in one video I filmed three different trains in one closure.

Nice to see the class 90's even though all sets have been taking out of service.? Good video nice to see the comparison 745 the future where as the class 90 represents train design and technology back then..👌

Interesting a crossing on a road with a hillock, like one end of the road in live in, which has flat at one end and rises at the other. Think I can see that the road does go back down on the other side.

Yeah, the roads connect at either side. Large, tall vehicles like lorries, buses, coaches etc use the crossing.

Is it normal for gates to close 3 minutes before a train crosses?

On these full barrier crossings, yes it is. It is because these crossings have to be confirmed clear of obstructions by signallers either in a on-site signal box or control centre via CCTV. The train is usually a couple of minutes away so the signals can be set to proceed once the barriers are lowered.
