Ukraine's 'game-changer' torpedo sub will win Black Sea battle

UKRAINIAN engineers have built a stealth torpedo-launching submarine designed for hit-and-run missions to destroy enemy warships.
Analysts have tipped the streamline beast, known as Kronos, to change the future naval warfare, but more pressingly for Ukraine - it could help turn the tides of the Black Sea battle.

Not the first time i felt this pain. The poor guy needs more self-esteem. By bettering his english skills or insisting to speak his native language and being subbed. Problem is, his expertise can be as good as gold - sadly it is ridiculed by the language problem.

I'm pretty sure that is a reference to Kronos, the God of Time... that part of the world is the land of Greek Mythology, many references to the gods in their culture but you'd have to have read the old classics to recognize the names. Their ship killer cruise missile, Neptune, named after the God of the Sea is another example of mythological references. Edit: Kronos/Cronus is where the word chronometer is derived. (time-meter)

It's self-defence is don't be seen, i.e. stealth. The Swedes has stealth subs, which again and again sunk US carriers in NATO exercises. It was so bad for the Americans that the US Navy don't want to have Sweden's subs make stealthy exercise attacks.

When someone is not able to speak at least a few words in a foreign language that are lining up, making somes sense, matching up, are understandable, then use subtitles. His whole English language is a single imposition.

I'm guessing those wings are the ballast tanks. I'd expect more drag with it shaped like that rather than a simple conformal blob shape. Perhaps for surface use, it acts like a hydrofoil.

I doubt you can be stealth at high speeds especially in shallow waters. Your cavitation will give you away long before you can get close to your intended target. BTW I have seen this design before; the designer showed his drawings at one of the AUVSI conferences about 15/16 years ago. It's not an original design. It does look cool though.

I think the more we understand how the status quo is changing now we need to understand how what are capable of now is apart of how the status quo can be maintained or change in our own favour. Understanding our current capabilities we don't just want to be prepared to fight just one foe which maybe a perceived weakness which our enemies joining hands could exploit. So we need to understand the fruits of our labour by understanding with direction where our preparation is now geared towards objectively? A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. As they say.

I think Western media got it wrong. The wings could be for ground-effect flying, i.e. flying just above the sea surface. That would make it possible to attack at Marc 1! but I could be wrong too, because at 6:00 I can see it transporting 10 persons + helmsman. Maybe there're more than one type of vessel

it's the bat sub. I know the US won the Pacific with PT boats with torpedoes. It wasn't with large ships. It's more evidence that you really don't need large ships to control vast swathes of ocean. Just boats that can sink everything in sight. However with ever more complex communication systems and command and control components and weapons systems, you would be hard pressed to fit it all on a boat. However like handheld Sat phones, you never know if it could all bo made more modular and lightweight
