Thank you so much for keeping this video up. I'm new to stringed instruments and have looked at several other explanations of the fretboard that were a bit confusing ( and I play piano!). This is brilliant!! Thank you!!!

Excellent video Arron. I think a good way to learn the dreaded scale is this There are seven whole notes A B C D E F G. There is a sharp or flat between each one EXCEPT B and C and E and F. IE A Bb B C C# D Eb E F F# G Ab. 12 notes..Thats all there are folks. By the way on the piano keyboard the two white notes without a black note in between are B an C and E and F.

Just went from a beginner to advanced in one video
@gordonwillett24334 жыл бұрын
Watched your up the neck video.i am an absolute beginner with very little ability But I’ve decided to try and learn this instrument. So having watched you vid I couldn’t work out as you were going up and down the neck what the index finger was doing at one bit I thought it was a guide and then thought it was actually touching the strings perhaps you could explain that point for me hope you understand
@ackeim4 жыл бұрын
I think you must mean when I have the index finger across all four strings- that is called a bar chord. Look for my “Bb and other bar chords” video. Thanks!

Bar chords make a lot of sense but i just suck at them!! I have some piano knowledge so moving up the fret board makes sense as well, i just cant make the bars sound good.

This is a GREAT tutorial, thank you so much!! I have a question!! I went to your website and found the Silent Night fingerstyle ukulele you arranged. I want to learn to play this just like you do. I notice you have a thumb pick... I would love to know where you can order one like yours. I have one, it seems to be made out of plastic... mine often creates little clicks as I play... I listened to your video and cannot hear any clicks. Maybe you would be so kind as to give me a link to the thumbpick that you use so I can order me one. I would appreciate it so much!! Thanks in advance!!
@ackeim3 жыл бұрын
Does is click because you are hitting the top of the uke? Maybe you need one with a shorter blade. You also can sand or file it down. I use a brown plastic National size medium. You can get from elderly.com
@junejones25373 жыл бұрын
@@ackeim Thank you!! Nice to know that the plastic ones can be sanded or filed down. I'll keep that in mind. I finally grew out the nails of my right hand, for picking, so I'm having the best success right now not even using a pick, just using a nail strengthener and keeping those nails polished to hopefully be able to continue to use my own nails for picking on the ukulele! I think they are the best solution, better than any plastic pick, etc. Again, thanks for answering!
