I'd preferred it if he'd been honest and pointed out it was his party that started this under Mayor Boris. I'd prefer it if he'd told you Susan Hall the Tory candidate also spent years supporting it alongside Boris and only now she wants to be elected she doesn't support it! It's also his party that spent years doing nothing about it but now say they can't because of EU directive 136 whilst also telling people we'd left the EU and bonfired all their stupid rules....clearly more lies. The only candidate capable of telling the truth and hasn't flip flopped is Howard Cox of Reform UK.

How can it be for pollution when you can pay and still pollute like paying £15 for a pint in a pub and you can then smoke in there

Sadiq Khan’s, to reduce toxic air by expanding the ULEZ to greater London will not work. He doesn’t really care about toxic air quality and here is why: - He has already made the toxic air far worse since he has introduced the LTN’s which have increased the toxic air on the main roads because we are forced to use them as there are no other alternatives, especially during rush hour. The roads are now grid locked with traffic moving at walking pace and the fumes are getting denser and not dispersing. LTN’s need to be reopened as it is causing more damage than good. Among all this, the mileage in vehicles has also increased due to the fact that we are forced to go the long way round to get to the required destination - all accumulating to even more emission being emitted! Bravo Sadiq & team. - The health for pedestrians and children as they walk along these main routes to get to stations, schools, shops is deteriorating. Even the drivers inhale more fumes when we are stuck in stationary traffic. This is really aggravating and makes no sense! - Cycle Lanes: Should not be taking up an extra lane of the roads, large pavements could be divided into two for cyclists. - The introductions of 20MPH roads are also a problem because emission fumes don’t disperse quickly and the air is getting even more polluted because of the need to drive in lower gears. Sadiq’s statement: “It is to reduce toxic air pollution” is clearly not accurate and is making matters worse. The situation is getting extremely out of hand and something needs to be done to stop him from ruining our climate even more. He should resign and Londoners should vote for someone who will make London a greater and more desirable place to live in. There needs to be a more logical and strategic plan that is well thought. Vinnie Lauda

Conservatives Cameron and Johnson signed up to the EU pollution reductions policies when they were in office. Any mayor is legally obliged to implement these policies. If you wanted to have these policies rescinded, you might want to lobby Sunnak since we're now out of the EU. Why are conservative MPs so quiet about this? The LTNs reduce traffic in London residents local streets, and when combined with 15 minute cities, would enable residents to walk and cycle safely to their local amenities(when they're eventually relocated), without the need to drive. This will bring down pollution and ironically (when considering your last couple of lines of text), will make London a greater and more desirable place to live in. The main reason for pollution is the burning of fossil fuels. The gas and oil companies have known since the 1980s about poor health outcomes for residents of cities, when fossil fuels are burnt in densely populated areas. Some car companies put cheat-codes into their car's engine management ECU during the 2000's so, when tested, they passed emission tests at the mot. The expected pollution reductions from these newer and cleaner diesel cars didn't materialise because of this. Perhaps if the car companies hadn't use cheat-codes, or the oil companies hadn't lobbied government for the fossil fuel burning status quo, we might not be in this situation? There are many reasons for the ULEZ being implement. Most are due to the oil and gas companies wanting to maximise their profits, similar with the car companies with cheat-codes in the ECUs.

Ulez is non political, it’s driven by Sadiq Khans chairmanship of C40 Cities, where they have mayors all over the world doing the same thing. C40 Cities sits outside of our democratic system, we didn’t vote it in and we can’t vote it out.

There are couple of thing the public can do. You may not be able to vote on these things, but you can refuse to vote for the rat b’stards who implement these plans, but be sure that they understand why they are on your shit list. One can also refuse to comply, a bit of civil disobedience can be quite effective at making these arrogant pricks sit up and take notice. If and when given opportunity ask them some very uncomfortable questions about their policies (the more public the better) there is no better sight than seeing a crook and a lier sweat. These people are ever fearful of the populace they want to control, the minute we lie down, accede and comply is the minute they have won. Don’t make it easy for them.

My advice, start with the questions, not with the conclusions! Here are some research questions for you; I look forward to your findings: *_What do scientists say are the effects of air pollution? Are scientists overwhelmingly in agreement? What are your solutions to ULEZ? What do you propose to do to have clean air? Do the questions 3 and 4 have a similar or different answer? Why_* ?

Jacob. Our MOT involves an emissions test. Don’t meet it, cannot drive on the roads. Car drivers and motorbike riders pay to use the road. We have to ensure our vehicle is roadworthy and pay handsomely for the privilege. That the odious little racist is advocating public transport which costs a fortune, takes longer and that’s if the drivers aren’t striking. Bike riders take a cycling proficiency test when they are 12 or thereabouts for 2-3 days. No costs involved, it’s free. No Highway Code tests No taxes to use the road No yearly tests on their bikes No fines for them riding through red lights No fines for them not wearing appropriate high vis clothing at night That they can tell the police if they ‘feel’ they’ve not been given adequate room on the road they do not pay for, and motorists are again, fined. Get rid of cycling lanes. There would then be enough goddamn room for the vehicle users who are legally, through a test, competent to use the roads.

@@karenyoung8341 Why not charge pedestrians to use public facilities, if you want cyclists to pay to use public facilities.. the reason motorists pay fees to register their vehicles is to cover the cost of administration related to motor vehicles; insurance protects motor vehicle owners and drivers from being held financially responsible if they cause injury to someone else in a motor vehicle accident. The taxes motorists pay go to general revenue; those taxes do not specifically pay for roads, as all taxpayers pay for roads.

The Demographics of London are unfortunate heavily in favour of a Muslim Mayor. There are 40% White Christians and 60% non-White ethics. It's well known that 3rd World Immigrants vote overwhelming for Socialist Parties. Therefore, labour and particularly a "Muslim Labour Candidate" will always win. London is now a lost City to Islam. This equally applies to all English Cities. Labour wins most councils and Muslim Candidates are pushed by aggressive Postal Voting and Tribal Voting. Remember Tower Hamlets?

This is an odd rant by Rees-mogg. Boris Johnson introduced the first ULEZ in central London and conservative prime minister Cameron endorsed it. Various conservative governments have signed up to the EU reduction in city pollution, having been taken to court by the European Court of Justice in 2014. These reductions do not meet the more stringent WHO recommendations for pollution reduction. The UK, having left the EU in 2016, one might think it would be a simple matter for Rees-Mogg's conservative government to just rescind the EU legislation that they signed up to, and which Khan is legally obliged as mayor, to implement. Instead, various politically opportunistic conservative boroughs, took Khan to court (and failed), instead of the conservative government. This rant by Rees-Mogg, is a cynical attempt to make political gain, in the run-up to the next general election.

*We should also not forget that Mogg’s monologue is a polemic, an opinion piece against ULEZ. There are several points to consider, Firstly, when has Mogg **_ever_** considered the needs of the poor. Let’s face it, Mogg is not looking after the needs of the poor, but the interests of fossil fuel tycoons. Secondly, that London has 1/40 of the air pollution of the 19th century (!) does not in any way undermine the environmental research by Imperial College. The IC research is based on more specific findings of air pollution. This includes evidence of low fertility, by lowering sperm count and motility. Air pollution can also impair normal foetal development in the womb, increasing the risk of miscarriage, low birth weight and pre-term births. As for children, it can lead to developing lifelong, chronic conditions, including poorly developed lungs, asthma, high blood pressure, inattention and hyperactivity, and mental illness. Thirdly, that Mogg makes the claim that the reduction in air pollution is due to **_innovation_** rather than the reduction in the use of coal and oil - fossil fuels - is an understandable bluff when you consider he receives large donations from fossil fuel magnates like Jeremy Hosking. Finally, the RAC stated that 90 percent of cars and 80 percent of vans are not affected by ULEZ. Where Mogg got the figure that it had dropped to 1/3, who knows? So what do we learn from the Moggologue? Worthy of a medal? Or futile attempts to blind viewers with whatever he has at hand: science, poshness, smugness, intellectual superiority* .

Why does he have to talk like a broken machine? Much of London's pollution is caused by construction lorries.

*Wasn’t the OBR set up by Cameron in order to practically do a cost/benefit risk assessment of government policy? However, it wasn’t done with two of the most calamitous failures of the past 13 years: Brexit, and Truss and Kwarteng’s “mini statement”. Would you like to comment on these failures of a cost/price analyses Sir Jacob? Thought not* !
