Great vid! I owned a RD07A and rode it over 80K then switched to an ADV990 EFI: missed the smoothness but loved the suspension of that bike. Nowadays older and wiser and back to the roots on a XT660Z Ténéré which is also fun after mods...

It's amazing that in the midst of the adventure bike craze the best one ever dated back to the 1980s. THIS is what we need! A torquey 750 Twin with low-end grunt, in a bike that starts with "Enduro" and then adds highway capability. Today's adv bikes, with the exception of KTM, start with "highway" and then add "off-road." And if you're in the wilds of Africa do you REALLY want to depends on electronics to keep you alive? I want something I can fix with duct tape and shoelaces. Seeing those carbs did my heart good. I love my Tiger XCx, but I don't kid myself.....the Africa Twin was the real deal. If I were actually going to ride around the world, and trust my life to a bike in doing so, I'd step over a brand new R1200 GS to get to a good, well-sorted vintage Africa Twin.

Super Video....hatte vor 15 jahren auch ne twin...eine der ersten rd04....und kauf mir jetzt gleich wieder eine.....ist das beste bike dass es gibt, und das es jemals gegeben hat

Is the little spoiler good at reducing wind noise and buffeting? I have an rd04 with stock windscreen and it gets very noisy above 80kph

Hallo, wenn ich mal wieder Zeit habe zum Fahren gibts sicher wieder Videos (habe jetzt 2 kleine Kinder = keine Freizeit :-) ). Ich habe auch eine komplett umgebaute Dominator 650 RD02 wo ich auch schon lange einen Film drehen wollte....braucht Zeit. Beste Grüsse, Martin!

Sound ist nicht schlecht, ist ein Leovince drauf oder? Welcher genau? Mit oder ohne DB-Killer? Ich überlege, von der Lc4 auf eine zuverlässige RD07 umzusteigen

Ja, LeoVince Slip on Carbon, Sound ist mit DB-Killer. LC4 gegen RD07....Weise Entscheidung :-)

TheMultyMaster the XRV750 africa twin is a road legal version of the RV750 which also won the dakar and kicked yamahas ass back in 93

+René Wodni Servus, hab den Heidenau K60Scout drauf. Geht wirklich gut auch auf Asphalt und kann doch was im Gelände. Macht optisch auch was her :-) Mfg. Mascht

Nach dem meine Pirelli 06/2017 runter waren, hab ich mir die Heidenau drauf ziehen lassen. Kann nicht meckern. Haben mich nie im Stich gelassen. 11500km haben sie jetzt weg. 1000 werden sie noch halten. Danke für den Tip!

Very nice bike. Do you still have it? I got a possible deal on a 1992 model with about 35,000 kms. Don't know if they are real. How can i be sure if it isn't 135,000 kms?

I can assure that it isn't 35k. Think about it. It's a 24 year old touring bike. That kind of mileage is irrealistic for a bike that was designed to do decent distances. But it doesn't really matter. As long as it's been taken care of, mileage is just a number.

+davidsunhun Thanks. That's what i think. I'm looking now at a Honda Transalp 650 from year 2000. It has about 40,000 kms. Needs to be revised and painted but it is much cheaper than the AT. After being all checked up do you think it's a reliable bike?

@@TheMegamsp Hi, probably I'm already too late and your choice is done. However, here is my two bits: Transalp and first Africa Twin RD 04 were sisters. In 93, AT got a bigger engine, some more HP and torque as well as a readjusted set and redesigned frame, but genetically is the same. Whether you've got yourself a Transalp or an AT you made a good choice. Enjoy your bike, both have characters and look like what they were suppose to be. If you look at Yamaha Super Tenere, Cagiva Elefant and AT of the same period, they all look like twins. Have you wonder why? They don't make bikes like that anymore. Cheers!
