The reason the other mother gave everyone free will is because she was running on fumes creating the world and several times was gone to "rest" to restore her strength and needed her creations to keep Coraline distracted while she was gone
@ystrip2
@ystrip2 Жыл бұрын
That’s not only a good explanation but also a reminder for how antagonists aren’t perfect in their schemes and by trying to rationally judge characters and their actions, you risk overlooking their inherent flaws. Sauron is another example: he is perhaps the mightiest being of his time but he acts according to his principles which revolve around an idea of power that is essential to the character and also why he can’t see his enemies acting completely contrarian to that idea (by trying to destroy the ring). It’d be easy to point out „Hey, why didn’t he always guard the entrance to Mt. Doom just to be sure“ but that’s missing who he is.

I remember when I saw Coraline in 3D in theaters, and my friend and I were given one pair of 3D glasses. Rather than going to get one more, we decided to pass them back and forth. The scene in the web happened, and she gave me the glasses to see. It was TERRIFYING in 3D (I was 14/15), so I gave them back to her. Waaay less scary in blurry 2D.

Ryan should do a Zootopia pitch meeting. I remember when I watched it I could only think "Everything is so wrong with this movie!". A policewoman who decides to disobey orders, break laws, join convicted criminals and even get close to the mafia. Definitely quality content for a pitch meeting.

Watching these compilations really shows how good Ryan's writing is. Like, there are so many recurring bits that are retold in a different way so that they stay fresh. For example, the "I have questions about how [intercourse between species] works" In Bee Movie, the writer has drawings of it and makes the producer uncomfortable. In a different movie, the producer wants to ask questions and the writer gets uncomfortable.
