Hey Ali, great video. Couple questions, if you’re interested. 1) I‘ve noticed the Lookback variable has a large impact on the backtest results, whereas the Scale and Smoothing don’t seem to impact that much. Would it be valid, to fix Scale and Smoothing at a value and then just optimize on Lookback? 2) The trade length for mean reversion trades seems longer on average than say, the RSI(2), leading to fewer trades. In this case, is it a reasonable approach to use straight walk-forward instead of matrix, to ensure each run has a good number of trades in it? Maybe a smaller 2x2 matrix is still better than walk-forward. Anyway, any info or feedback is always appreciated!!

I use the Williams percentage range a lot but find it inadequate as it is based on the simple moving average. I made an indicator based on the smoothed moving average (As I find that a more accurate depiction of the mean) with a rudimentary algorithm, it's not ideal I get hung up on the math

Can you explain the difference between your indicator and all the other lagging ones based on price history? I like your approach not optimizing but using filters instead. That it works on several markets means robustness. My suggestion is that your primary parameter should be unrealized drawdown in percent of balance, which is the key for prop trading and which cannot exceed 5% at any time.

Algo vs Crap series rank indicators based on how many robust strategies out at the end of workflow out of the +3100 strategies built per indicator. those strategies are not fully baked, meaning they are not systems to be traded as the average trade or drawdown are not taken into consideration, instead other robust filters are used to find out how many strategies per instrument/direction pass? like I showed in the video if you couple Ultimate C% with Soybeans, it should take you less than 10 minutes to build a robust strategy with very good average trade and lower drawdown. But coupling Ultimate C% with Australian Dollar is a 50/50 proposition to build a robust strategy, even though Ultimate C% is ranked #1 out of the 22 oscillators I tested so far. I am not in the camp of a strategy has to work on multiple markets to prove its robust, instead I am in the camp of matching strategy style, direction to market characteristics, as this is a much better workflow to get robust strategies on the other end.

no, it use ROC ranking with 3 speeds and weights then it smoothes the value. the code is open and available in the community go.statoasis.com/freeinvite
