Best video of the Nel drip yet. I’ve just tried your recipe/method and its better than the bloom + 2 pours 1:15 ratio. Love your channel.

I can share some if you don't mind info from stranger from youtube: - grind slightly coarser than espresso (you don't want fine grind) - put hot water in mokka, not cold (so the coffee will interact with hot water & not get wet before water becomes hot) - if you want a clear cup, use aeropress filter, makes difference - don't forget the main part: basket. I put my coarser grind & don't pack it as is portafilter - - In that way there is no problem with water going through the basket, no overextraction & channeling. - - i round all coffee with knife to make basket flat (the coffee is distributed evenly) & it's fluffy (don't forget not to push coffee, it's not espresso machine with 9 bars) These tips collected over 2 years, makes really good and clean cup. Not a fan of paper filter bcs mokka is only with milk 4 me, but the cup is cleaner indeed

Interesting. I hadn't seen this. I just bought a cotton filter for my Mugen. Doppelganger out of Almeda, CA. Also looked at hemp, but someone said it tasted strange. I can taste the white paper filter when I make Ethiopian. So I'm hoping this is more environmental and better flavor. My gut can't handle the fines. So we shall see.

Hope this works well for you though ~ I know which one you're working with. The weird taste could be due to poor storage, so make sure you rinse it out well after you finish brewing with it. I find cloth filters uses a lot more water

Yo Vincent, I have been experimenting with this recipe and, i know you dont like stiring with a spoon, however when i mixed with a spoon, it seems that it doest shoot out of the filter as many fines, this make for a cleaner cup with a still havier body, because of the oils
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm not the biggest spoon fan. With the nel drip though you could go with the spoon. Especially when you want to push all the oils out the spoon definitely is a great option!

Hey Vincent, what do you think of the lily drip? i have been thinking that it would be excellent for bigger brews, since it reduces the bed size, maintaining a fast flow rate
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s necessary. Just pour differently to make up for flow rate. And if you’re brewing large batches use a bypass. It might be useful if you’re doing blooms and multipours but single pours I think solve the flow rate issue.

I loved using my Hario Woodneck, but I've just been using a v60 with paper filters because I'm short on time. By the way, are there any thoughts on pour-over carafes and why you might choose one over another? Size, cylindrical vs the classical Hario shape etc
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE 2 жыл бұрын
For the carafes I like the hario 01 cause it’s just enough for my coffee size. Doesn’t look too big nor take up to much space. The closer your coffee is the warmer it stays too so yeah. Love the smaller items. Cylindrical ones I have like a beaker, but no handle so it kinda sucks. Ahaha. I have one with a handle and it works well. I don’t have a preference with shape I just use the hario one cause it’s easy. But probably a cylindrical one when I look to upgrade this. Good idea. Hahaha maybe I will 😬

what about turning the sock inside out so the fold is on the inside? not sure if that would be better or not.

I tried it before but it affects the stir and flow rate. It’s not a big deal but it’s something I think hario could improve on though

Is it possible to get a decent cup of single pour over with stainless steal filter?
@TALESCOFFEE
@TALESCOFFEE Жыл бұрын
It is for sure! It comes out a little quicker so you'll need to pour a little slower but it definitely can yes!

@@TALESCOFFEE many thanks tales coffee. Will definitely try to slow down my pour. I have tested it out a couple of times with 10g of coffee, but I couldn't get the final dome shape like how Vincent's pour does. The nearest 'dome' I observed is with a coarser grind. Most of the time is just getting the crema at the side with a sink down shape of the medium fine coffee grind. Any other factors that I can adjust to have the perfect dome shape?
