A walk-around and test ride of a 2011 CVO Electra Glide Ultra Classic with sidecar rigged up to it. This is one of the nicest sidecar Harley-Davidson motorcycles you'll ever see. H-D hasn't offered a sidecar option for about 10 years now so they aren't seen very often. What's even more rare is one that has been done with the level of detail and thoroughness as this one. Matt Laidlaw takes us through the details on this bike and takes it for a spin with a few passengers from the Laidlaw's H-D crew.

I used my sidecars as winter machines in the snow and icy Midwest. My Panhead rig had reverse gear, winter windscreen, leg shields and adjustable rake Hydra-Glide fork. I even had genuine Harley-Davidson fleece lined winter mittens still offered in the 1970s. Winter sidecar riding was a blast! But I was always happy when spring came so I could get back on two wheels.

I've always loved the look of the HD with sidecar. At 69 and riding a '19 SGS, I often wonder what my next Harley should be. That is a beautiful rig. Great VLOG.

At 69 I'm hoping to be on an Ultra Trike with matching trailer cruising the country with the Mrs. Right now we have a 16 Ultra and 14 Sporty 48. Ride safe !

mann ! That is badass I want it ! I wish they still made them . I would take the dogs and kittens out for a spin in mine if I got my hands on one! I imagine the feeling of giddy nostalgia and how fun it would be just because it is goofy and not something you see every day . I mean honestly how many people can say they rode in a sidecar or rode a bike with a passenger in a sidecar? It's just awesome and what a great piece to add to a collection for the serious Harley guy!

I've always wanted to get a Harley with a sidecar. Since I was a little kid, to me they always seemed like the ultimate Harley expression. It almost would be nice if they offered a really small amount of them from the factory for one year, if not simply as a marketing campaign.

Cool setup, very nice. The original owner clearly had a vision of what they wanted, and the execution (build) appears excellent. Bike & sidecar look absolutely mint condition. Using this machine for inspiration, I could imagine taking a 2021 Electra Glide Revival and adding a vintage looking sidecar (painted to match the Revival) to it. Would definitely be very unique. I never knew H-D made sidecars. I only rode one once (Guzzi Le Mans). It was hilarious 😂 Also remember going in one as a kid. My mothers uncle had a BSA A10 with a double adult.

Been watching your reviews for the last couple years and was excited to see a sidecar video. I have a 2019 Road King Special with a Champion sidecar. The riding and handling expectations portions of the video were spot on. As were the "Head Turning" comments!

Absolutely love this. Someone put love into this build. This would make a great weekend cruiser/event bike for adaptive and older riders. Offer? Eh, the occasional limited run possibly. But otherwise should be able to order it.

What a cool bike. I could see myself getting a sidecar one day for my daughter to ride alongside me. Have a 2002 Ultra Classic so she could ride behind me too, but the sidecar is just so unique and cool.

My dad had a sidecar unit when he was in his early 20s, which ended up being wrapped around a lamp post going down a hill in south London. My mates dad had one in his garage, it was a huge 2 seater fully enclosed thing, never saw it on the road though. Looks a real blast, although I believe they can be a bit of a handful at times - imagine taking one down the Stelvio pass !! Ian Back on two Wheels

I love this thing. It looks like it would be an absolute blast to cruise around on. I don't know if I would ever actually buy one, but I do think it's super cool. Maybe if it was Barney Fife's sidecar I would consider actually buying it.

The one I had was a black DJP hooked up to a GT550 Suzuki with an all weather. It was not a quick detachable unit made out fibre glass. It was a lot of fun. It didn't have it's own brake. If you could operate one 😢these,a trike would be a piece of cake. A lot of people had these pre WW2 and after when cars and petrol were very expensive. You had completely enclosed ones with windows,2 parents 2-3 kids could fit in. Side-car people had a special bond,going out on picnics together. One friend of mine had one hooked up to a Honda Golding. It was very quick. It would be good to see Harley Davidson offer them again. Mine had a detachable hoop bar you fitted into the side-car where your arms rest,so you could fit an all weather cover with stud's over the top of the side-car 's windscreen.

Great video. I always wanted to take a ride as a passenger in a sidecar. I went to order a new new Road King with color matched sidecar rig back in 1997. It was almost $20,000. Wish that I had followed through on the deal. A few days after I had talked to the dealer about the rig, I was going through the Cycle Trader paper. I had found a 65 Electra Glide up in Orlando. Needless to say, I didn't buy the new rig. Still have the 65 after all these years. Merry Christmas to everyone at Laidlaw's Harley Davidson.

Plenty of old HD sidecars around that bolt right up to a 1965 Panhead. Transmission will accept reverse gear too.

Great looking bike!! Yes they should bring the sidecar back as an option. I have a '09 electra glide and after loosing my leg in '19 I've been looking for one! I guess i'm old school, not wanting to go to a trike! Great video

One hundred years back in time is about right. The heyday of the sidecar was the early 1920s. Harley-Davidson promoted sidecar sales back then to compete with automobiles at a time when most women did not ride their own bikes. There was even a double wide sidecar for family use. Kids absolutely LOVE sidecars. It's a unique experience like nothing else. Not a replacement for the two-wheeler but as an added dimension to the sport.

I’m 61 now but when I was 17 I worked at a Lincoln- Mercury dealership and my boss had one a BMW that SOB was crazy lol I rode with him twice to pick up a vehicle every time he said jump in the side care I made the sign of the cross but since I was young I loved it so awesome 😎 and your right the looks and waves were pretty cool

Yes , I have been in love ❤️ with both the side cart and trike since I was in grade school 🏫 !!! I’m 58 , and I still haven’t rode either . But on an Ultra Limited I can’t think 🤔 of a better platform !!! You are all good 👍 😊 😌 on bike and motor size . And all the bolt on goodies !!! Thank You 🙏 😊 ☺️ for another fantastic video !!! I'm 68 with a big white beard and would love to be chauffeured around in that sidecar with a red jacket and my Santa hat. Love the Christmas music in the background too. Love HD sidecars. That build is out of the park. We are the second owner of a factory built 1994 HD FHP (police) sidecar rig. It is our forever bike.

I have two kids so its always a fight who gets to go on a ride, which usually means I take neither. It would be amazing to have a quick detach side car for trips with both of them!

Great video as always. The trike probably killed the market for sidecars plus the impracticality of removing a sidecar hurts any market for them. I know a guy who had a side hustle restoring and adding sidecars to Harleys. I looked into getting one for my bike but it was simply too cumbersome and impractical for me to go through with it. They are cool and if you are into parades and such, they'd be great. Again, great video and happy holidays to all your viewers!

I've been riding my uncle's russian motorcycle with a side car and I just realized this could be a blast, if matched by a serious classic V2 engine!
