Reading this now in 2023 and I laughed! Did some BGs in Wotlk Classic - Alliance almost always win which sucks (since I am Horde) but in AV we just zerged the boss and won - not AFK like this video maybe assumes. Getting all objectives on the way is not really something I see us doing - even for the extra honor points.

AV... needs a buff? In what world does the highest honor source in the game need a buff? That's stupid af. Maybe change it so the loser gets less, but giving more to the winner is just fucking absurd. Easily getting 200k honor a day is stupid.

No changes means no changes, not even to improve the game

You get a little reputation (12 for non-humans) from controlling them at the end of the match. There's also a repeatable quest to gather supplies from them that gives a tiny amount of reputation and some silver. Once enough supplies have been gathered by your team, a ground assault can be activated which spawns a group of elites that will move to the enemy base when given commands. There is also a one-time quest to capture a mine.

Who's losing? With this strat you win the game in somewhere between 10-13min (depending on the opposing faction's defense and how well the team executes). We net on average about 3500 honor, and win the game so we get the rep from winning and the extra 125 rep from killing Galv. I get about 20k honor/hr and got exalted within the first 24 hours of AV being released. Average Drek rush game takes around 8-9 minutes, gets 775 honor and doesn't get the extra 125 rep from Galv. So it's an extra 2-3 minutes for the extra 125 rep and 3k more honor. Additionally, horde are defending a lot more now which screws up the drek rush pretty badly, but doesn't have as much of an effect on this strat.

@@cliffwow2365 bro what? I average 3.5k honor just by rushing drek... why would you do anything other than that? Rush to drek area, grab the graveyard and kill archers in towers boom theres 2k honor right there in 6 minutes, kill the WM and then the boss boom theres another 1k in a total of 8 minutes. You gain rep over time, and for winning you get another 350.

@@majortiergamerelite294 I'd love to see a scoreboard where you got 3500 honor in a 6 minute game. It is technically possible, but is only accomplished by stacking a premade of 35+ and splitting well by sending around 10 to the lieutenants and commanders and the other 30 to Drek.

We get more honor and rep BECUASE WE DO OBJECTIVES. most horde on OCE will be down to defend and do objectives etc because we want to win. Ive even had turtle games give more rep than quick games cus of turn ins. Its all about turn ins, objectives and the bosses. 100% "quick losses" are the worst ideas

Av is made foe Horde to win. Horde have more people who care about pvp, Blizzard has to favor them so they don't lose subscribers.That's why they have better racials and BGs that are in their favor. If you want to pvp, go Horde. If you want to have more female players, and more"lifers" in your guild, play Alliance.

Not at all. We've ran into quite a few horde defenses in our premades. The best solution is to take the moment to quickly wipe them with your raid. The reason it turns into a turtle is because groups will let 10+ people get picked off by a horde defense, then they run into problems at the warmasters. Don't let those players die in the initial run and you're all good.

@@cliffwow2365 "in our premades." I think that's the issue people are having with relating to this. You're asking a little bit too much for PUGs. The guy above has a point. I'd rather rush and win 1 out of every 3 than have a cripplingly slow game because 15 people left after a botched Galv and the another 15 standing in middle Pyroing level 54s while the people at Drek are spamming "GET SOUTH". If people had any sense of what to do as a faction then you're 100% correct, but otherwise that just isn't happening. Although it would if every single player was forced to watch this before playing. I think everyone would have much better games if there was some way to get player to understand what the fuck AV actually is instead of just having them blindly run in there and think "oh, this guy from Faerlina is saying he's a pug and telling us to rush Drek, this must be the best way, I will continue to do that for the next 3 months". I don't think anyone here thinks you're full of it. I just know from the last 700k honor that without a premade only about 30% of what you're saying can actually be expected to get done.

@@TheBreezeShoot I have faith (although it's probably misplaced), that people will adapt to this correct strategy soon. I'm already seeing quite a few groups do this when I solo queue. Admittedly, I don't solo queue much, so that may not be the majority.

Because the Alliance understand that losing a 15 minute game is a lot better honor/hour than winning a 30 minute game. It's a terrible system but it is what it is.

I've seen some discussion on the classic subreddit about this. Apparently the horde doing that are getting roasted because it's likely to cause a mess of a turtle game that lasts 30min+. The thing is, it's the same route across the fields of strife whether you're going to go straight to Galv or Drek, so either way strat will be screwed if enough horde intercept. The best solution is to have a few that will dismount and kill them, allowing the rest of your force to go forward. But, it's a balance between this, and still killing Galv before they kill Balinda. But I'd rather this be the discussion, because now we're talking about actual PVP.

On Alliance, it's every game... and it ends in failure. Horde in the games I play know what they're doing (i.e. Keep a shitload on defense to farm HKs). Unless it's a premade or some miracle team, Alliance will never get past a Horde defense at IBGY/IBT/Galv. Many Horde players are smart enough to know that if you attack the rush in mid, they will usually NOT fight back. It's free kills across the board and you stop the vast majority of the offense cuz... gotta rush Galv/Drek, even if your allies die and you end up being the only offense left.

I hadn't done AV in a few weeks because I've been pretty heavily focused on WSG, but I did quite a bit yesterday. This strat would definitely still work if all the alliance stuck together and just fought through the horde in the area between snowfall and balinda's building and capped snowfall before moving down. Alternatively, if everyone actually had epic mounts and a riding speed set this full strat would still work totally fine by going hard right and not stopping.

Of course our own honor is only relative to our own faction. But premade AV groups (including my own when we get 25+ in one raid), are using this strat, or some slight variation of it, to get 4k honor/match. So, if you end up with some bad luck when queueing with your premade, you can end up with only 4 or 5 of your group in the raid, and people rushing Drek will mean you get some pretty rough honor/hr. My point with saying horde are getting a lot more honor per game is to show how much honor can be gained in that amount of time. And just farming rep selfishly is kind of dumb, at this point tons of us are already exalted (I was exalted late Wednesday night... the day after BGs released) - so a large amount in each BG are there for honor. Killing Galv gives an extra 125 rep as well.

Because rankers on your faction and server will be doing this...those who you’re competing with...while you get 700 honor with rush drek which you may not even win.

He's already exalted so fuck our rep. But by all means, convince a bunch of spergs to try your premade strat in all of my pub bgs. I've not lost nearly enough AV's today, but hey, at least I get that 125 galv rep 50% of the time.

@@sarah-vc9vh horde MUST turtle cus they have 20m ques. A fast loss is not an option for the horde with such terrible ques, while for alliance it is. Losing fast and then waiting 20 more minutes for a game is not good. That's why horde are winning the vast majority of the games right now... they are motivated HARD to win by the que timers, while alliance dont care.. they are like " let's loose fast boys and jump the next one, more honor per hour". That's what many say when a horde turtle emerges.. which is 9.5/10 times.

On European servers it's the same, Alliance rushes, horde waits for them, then it's a battle in the middle, until Horde back doors the Alliance camp and wins.

Maxawe Some 21 AVs as Alliance in follow without a single win. Not because horde is imba or BG in favor for horde (I have always to laugh about that) but because we play like the firs humans on earth.

Pretty sure it's all around these days. There are some locales that don't follow that but it's pretty rare. It's like winning the lottery of stupid if you happen to be on Horde and on those games. The amount of Horde players that think AV provides no terrain benefit to Horde is pretty unreal, at least when it comes to KZfaq, Reddit, and the official forums. It's pretty sad to know how stupid some people are willing to be. It's like they're AV PUG Alliance or something.

Hey Mesz, sorry to hear you felt you should unsub because of this. To be honest, I think the horde are adapting to Alliance's strats better and causing more losses. A particularly strong strat is when they leave 15 to defend and use 25 for their boss rushes. They can cause some serious chaos in the front lines of the alliance. There is not one strategy that will allow you to win every AV. An example is what to do with the iceblood graveyard. If there aren't many horde defending and it's more of a race, then you shouldn't cap iceblood graveyard. But, if there are a lot defending, you should cap it once you've capped frostwolf to force those horde to respawn farther north or in their cave and take some pressure off. The strat I'm recommending in this video is how to maximize your honor in the game, it is not always going to be a 100% for sure route to winning, that doesn't exist. Even when our geared premades get 25+ people in a game, if horde puts forth a good strat, we lose once and a while as well. The real loss is getting stuck in a turtle. I'm fine losing if it only takes 15 minutes and we still get 4k honor.

It's true though, you can't try and cheese, have them turtle and cap 2 towers then just continue to run into their turtle. You'll have more warmasters/marshalls to pull then them which puts you at disadvantage. Cheesing is nice but AV is set up way better for defense. What is really hilarious is the whole group rushes to cheese drek then sits to cap fwgy while horde cap all your towers. Either cheese or play normally.

Which is part of the reason why you lose. Wanting to rush every game is like a glass cannon. Effective, as long as no one interferes or attacks it. Even premades that max honor efficiently (i.e. games are over in ~12min) are sure they complete every objective to do it. For whatever reason though, it seems almost impossible to convince Alliance players to do turn in quests for their nearly infinite number of lost matches. Not only do you get a ton of rep for it, but you might actually win if you can beat the Horde in doing it. It's not even just you, it's everyone that benefits from turn ins, since rep is given to all players per turn in. The Horde do exactly that in many matches I've been in. They get Lok, upgraded NPCs, and even wing commanders up as a common thing. They get so much rep per match.

80k honor per day is incredibly low, and I was also exalted day 2 with this method.

@@cliffwow2365 indeed but not for someone playing casually which i was, the problem with your reasoning is that saying "rushing drek is doing it wrong" even if you are winning, since the actual objective is winning and that is achieved by killing the boss why would you stop to do anything else given the chance to do so unimpeded? and yes horde was getting more than twice the honor but why would alliance care? then there is the risk of getting split and losing coordination something you would not be able to recover in a pug. i can go on about all the flaws of trying to play over multiple objectives with an uncoordinated group but everyone probably knows how that works. In the end it isnt the "rush drek" that is the problem but the lack of meaningful interaction by the opposite faction to stop it. After all if it aint broken dont fix it.

@@bersercker I agree that rushing Drek is a simpler strategy for a pug to understand but it's also susceptible to massive flaws. A small horde defense will turn a rush drek game into a full on turtle real quick. The reason I mentioned the horde getting more honor isn't because we're competing with them for honor, but just a comparison to show what they were focusing on in those games. The reason I demonized the strategy so much is because groups were leaving so much honor on the table by rushing Drek. I get many people's main priority was just rep, but to leave 3k honor, which many people in the group wanted, seemed insane, especially since the rep grind can be achieved within about 14-16 hours of play.
