Saving typically results in you earning a lower return but with virtually no risk. In contrast, investing allows you the opportunity to earn a higher return, but you take on the risk of loss in order to do so.

I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments. I purchased my first home at the age of 21 for $87,000 and sold it for $197,000. My second home, acquired for $170,000, was later sold for $320,000, and my third property, purchased at $300,000, fetched $589,000, with buyers covering all closing costs and expenses. Not reaching a million before retirement feels like an unfulfilled goal|.

Whichever firm you select, make sure you get your insurance from a reputable financial adviser, such as Jenny Pamogas Canaya, who has dedicated her career to financial planning. Because they will assist you in escalating, navigating better, and completing the task in a safer manner.||

Well done with your practical tips! I go through my 'fridge every 10 days or so and make soup from everything that needs to be used. Portion controlled and frozen. Done! I also regularly stew apples to freeze. A mix of red and green apples, seasoned with a little cinnamon = no need for adding sugar. At 73 and on a fixed income, I still make everything from scratch. Keep your spices well topped up. Makes a huge difference. Also, if I'm cooking mince, I just do a basic, bland recipe and freeze the portions, then when it comes time to heat, that's when I add my spices which actually gives me the required variety, flavour-wise. Also, I find it cheaper to buy powdered milk and use it in its dry form for a cuppa, just add to your cup, a teaspoon at a time and stir well. And yes: If at all possible, grow your own vegs whenever you can. I buy whatever is on special and toss it into the freezer, or the pantry. Buy all my pulses in bulk. Toss a bay leaf into your cannister, as this keeps pantry moths or weevils out. Yay! I restrict my grocery money to a certain amount, then prioritise my shopping list to what I need, rather than what I fancy, then carry the remaining items over till my next shop. I shop once a fortnight only and if I run out of something, too bad; Improvise. One last thing, given the price of eggs... If you like to bake, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 -2 tablespoons of vinegar replaces two eggs beautifully and one can NOT taste the vinegar at all. I use Apple Cider vinegar for a "yellow" cake, and malt or balsamic for a "brown" one. My pantry is well stocked with items that I have bought on special and stashed for when needs must. Alcohol is a luxury that does not come under the heading of groceries, unless it's brandy which is essential for a good pepper or mushroom sauce. A bottle will last me 12 months when used judiciously.

Great tips! Thank you so much! I’ve never heard of that egg replacement before. We have chickens, but still great to know! 😊

I like chillies. During the pandemic I bought a chilli plant I spotted in Sainsbury's. It still produces chillies and all it costs me is a bit of watering. I bulk buy things like household cleaning and bathroom products. I store them in the loft. I do this once a year, that way I avoid the price inflation for the rest of the year on these products. But also, if at any time I see a good offer like a two for one or good discount, I'll buy them and add to the stash in the loft. It's a way of applying pound cost averaging to lower the cost of certain consumer staple products we all need.

I would add using apps where you enter the leftovers you have and it returns suggestions for meals. And understanding of useby dates and using your sense to judge whether food is still consumable. And use tools for portion sizing (not cooking more than you need since cooking too much makes up for part of most people's waste). And stale bread can often still be used as a base for other baking (cookies for example, or even making your own alcohol 😉). Dry root vegetables can usually be stored in a box with soil forong periods of time (if they weren't stored frozen during shipping).

Groceries are so expensive these days. I shop in tesco and sometimes Aldi, but I have no clue why and how there are people who do their food shop in Waitrose or M&S…

I like the idea of Chuck it all meals, I just went through my freezer and found whole lot of vegetables and I chucked it all in the pot with nice spices, voila! Absolutely delicious meals to portion out and freeze! ❤

Thank you for the great freezer tips, I think a lot of it is about being more organised and thinking ahead - I will have to try it 😊 Bread is 70p to 75p a loaf if you buy it from Aldi or Lidl, and regular thick white bread is only about 75p in M&S. I waste loads of bread as my sons hardly eat it and I am gluten free so I will definitely think about portioning it out and freezing it, esp as the toaster has a frozen setting. I recently got a small air fryer and a slow cooker so I am going to start using both - we need to think how they used too, traditionally - far more frugal 40 years ago, or more

Just to clarify tgtg bags are usually between 3-5 £ for between 10-12 £ worth of food at retail value and if you go yellow sticker shopping at 9pm you’ve probably missed all the bargains

I have had really good ones from the local bakery worth around £20. I find the hardest thing is actually finding the stock from other places. I was trying to do a video on it and found they were often gone before the pick up time. Morrisons do amazing discounts during the day too, not just nighttime

In terms of preparing a mango if you cut a side off, hold the skin in the palm of your hand and push it down the side of a glass. The skin stays in your hand and all the flesh is in the glass :)

Cutting out meat for a few days might be cheaper but you need to replace that amount of protein from somewhere else. You shouldn’t simply cut out a main food group to save a bit of money, that’s not healthy which ends up being more expensive on your health
