A big hell yea to Deflemask! It's a definite must for anyone interested in making Genesis music using a tracker. It was a little too complex for me as I find trackers a bit too alien for my liking but the potential to make great tracks is most definitely there. I myself have a couple of volca FM's and Volca sample with a keystep pro for making Sega like sounds.

Glad the Volcas work for you. I ended up going with Roland Boutique's. Wish there was a master midi hardware sequencer I could use for it, but looks like I'll have to control it with my laptop after all.

very nice and well-explaining video. I love the concept, possibilities and the look at the trackers GUI and action. Some artists (not explicit: chip-tune) also use the c=64, for their background, and sing about it...if someone is interested, the name/band is: [ Welle:Erdball ] (but they are singing mostly in german)-

Sunsoft 5b also has an envelope generator that can create waves that look like sawtooth or triangle.

8:05 you can technically use deflemask and set system to arcade because it has the same ym2151 chip. However for the PCM, you should only use one of them so it can sound closer to the actual system

This is a really good video! Just a simple one explaining soundchips and what software can be best used with them. Personally I would reccomended Furnace Tracker as an all rounder but you did a really good job on covering the more specialised ones.

I got 0cc-famitracker, but how do I open it, i've read it's, it's own program, but I can't find the .exe anywhere in the github zip you posted in the description, if im an idiot and missed it please let me know where :(

Its there. You can get it right on that page. If you're downloading it from github make sure you get it from the releases page, not the source code. github.com/HertzDevil/0CC-FamiTracker/releases Theres also this newer fork called j0cc famitracker that sounds like it fixes some bugs? havent tried it myself github.com/nyanpasu64/j0CC-FamiTracker/releases

j0cc-Famitracker replaced 0cc awhile back, but now it's dead. Thankfully another version, Dn-FamiTracker, replaced j0cc, and it's still being developed today There's also 1tracker, which is basically an "upgraded" version of Beepola with more engines and better exporting, but the tracker itself is pretty shit. It doesn't even follow the notes when playing. I'm also glad to say there's finally a good tracker for the SNES called SNES Tracker. Only problem is you can't convert .wav files into the .brr sample files it takes, though places like SMW Central have tons of samples that you can download and play around with. Guess this means SNES music made with DAWs aren't "true" 16-bit anymore lol
