Here's the true ultimate setup. It does, however, require that you have an extra Bluetooth unit. Take that extra unit, remove the mic and headset. Plug a recording device into the headphone jack. Put that unit into a small case, connect it to YOUR Bluetooth system on your helmet and then toss it in a back pack or your pocket and let it record. No need to get the GoPro adapter. And you can leave the GoPro to record engine and road noise, so you have another source of audio to mix in, if you like. I find having multiple audio sources is nice. Also, with this setup, you can listen to music on your Bluetooth unit but it won't get recorded on the other unit. Also, no analog cables exposed to the elements, so this setup is still waterproof. You can film on a rainy day with no real issues. You can get a waterproof cable for your GoPro, hook that up to a battery brick and run that with a large SD card and you can continually record for 12+ hours. I read about this in a comment on another video talking about setups. The comment has no likes or replies. I'm not sure how many people even know about this setup. It's genius. Spread the word!

Yes my shoei is just a single mic into the old mic adapter

Make sure your adapter is only trs not trrs took me a couple different adapters and different vlogs with the wife's audio not getting picked up. Was super frustrating

For sure - it's overkill for some but by far the last motovlog you need to build for awhile unless GoPro or someone else comes out with a totally redesigned camera that caters to motovloggers (serious doubt it). Safe riding!

Yah that worked pretty great for the trip but lately people have been commenting the splitter is out of stock or changed. So here we are with my current setup 💪

This is the ultimate setup not cleanest. To change batteries you have to take the whole GoPro out of the case with his setup right? I’m not about that on rides, I want a quick way to do it at stop lights. This does that. Also the ultimate setup captures audio from the other rider too and have the ability to delete / adjust that audio later if desired. But if his setup works for you awesome, if you or anyone else can accomplish the same results and make my setup cleaner, I say go for it. A lot of people asked about my setup, this is the best setup out there imo for what I capture and how I capture it. For some people slapping a GoPro on the top of the helmet and using the internal mic is good enough for them.

@@Photogromer I dont have a case on mine but the case in your video does look very convenient with that door on the side as the replacement door i have does like to pop off everytime I open it, im just starting so I dont think I need the best just yet. DudleyDub yeah I was disappointed with GoPro making a door that pops off so easy after adding a great feature like the case less mount on the GoPro 8. So now I have to add a case with a locking door to accomplish the goal of changing batteries while riding without the door popping off or running it without the door and risking the battery backing out or allowing dirt or moisture to get to the internals of the GoPro. Once you do enough motovlog and you get back after a big ride (my 2020 merica ride plus countless others) and have no audio, you start to realize you can either accept that real possibility or start getting creative with your setup to ensure it doesn’t happen again. This build is definitely aimed towards those that have had issues in the past or want to record their sena audio also. I keep hoping GoPro (or a competitor) will come out with something to eliminate all this crap while still accomplishing the same results as this setup, but every year they fail. I’ve owned every GoPro since 3 and the Osmo action and Sony action cam trying to find the best solution for the best video / sound. This is it. Unfortunately it’s a lot to put on a helmet and takes away from the clean factor. I still think it’s worth it 😂

I'm sure I'll have some frustrations in the future but live and learn until a gopro or a competitor comes out with something that will make motovlogging way easier. Keep up the good work. Well move the one by your mouth to into your cheek pad and move the one in your check pad further back to next to the Sena speaker. Also,Is your GoPro mic settings set to standard and not standard +? Are you using the mics linked (mentioned) in this video? I had similar issues with other brand mics.

@@Photogromer using identical mics, not using gopro, going into an audio recorder (tascam dl10) after i wrote this, i realized both mics are on the mouth side of the ear speaker, gonna try putting the mic by the speaker on the back side 🤷🏼‍♂️. Thanks for the reply 🤙🏻

Defeats the purpose of quickly getting your battery out at a stoplight or quickly if you have to remove the entire mod (case) to change the battery. Plus many reports of it not working half the time with an external mic.

Sounds like a loose connection maybe wind or movement. That or it’s peaking and causing the popping. Not sure it’s hard to say but sounds like a connection issue

@@Photogromer But you dont think its because its 2 different brand mics? They are both the same OmniDirectional Mics.

No idea maybe. Maybe one is just a crap mic. Could be the connector. Could be one of the mics. Could be a loose connection. Just gotta problem solve the issue. Replace the mic see if it fixes it. If not replace the connector. But I’d make sure I taped the jacks to the input to ensure they aren’t backing out while riding first since that’s the cheapest.
