Alright you experts, we are excited to know what "corrections" you have for us on this one.
The internet has too many option for false information and so we decided to come out with our own reference materials for the Plymouth Superbird. Bob covers key aspects to the factory made Plymouth Superbird. Everything presented is based on internal knowledge from Bob's experience and collaboration with experts such as Dave Wise and his meticulous methods of number matching car parts.

We need more people like you in this world!! I would be remiss if I did not mention my favorite color for the SuperBird is Petty Blue!!! (Yes I am old, over 3/4 of a century old, and have been a huge Richard Petty Fan for pushing 70 years now. And, in case anyone questions, I remember Lee Petty (and Johnny Beauchamp intentionally...granted totally my perspective although some will insist to argue with me...crashing him at Daytona and ending his career as a driver, as well as pretty much Beauchamp's own, I could go on but, I'll stop there), young Richard Petty racing with his father, Fireball Roberts, that's just for starters. Growing Old ain't easy...make that Growing Old SUCKS!!! I'm just glad there are those like you who do their best to keep our history alive and correct!!! Please keep the great videos coming.

Also, just to share some more information, if you have a U-code on the fender tag, you know right away you have a real Superbird. As the normal Roadrunners (also RM23) had the 383-4bbl standard instead, and the 440-4bbl was not available. 440-6bbl and 426 Hemi were available as options on both Superbird, and normal Roadrunner for 1970.

Great video Bob! I was surprised to see Petty blue being such a rare color. It's the most iconic color out of the bunch.

10:20 I LOVE these old cars!!! but when people start waxing nostalgic about how "good" everything was back then I doubt they've been under the hood of a car very often. I have a 2000, 2006, 2011 and 2014 each of them can go 100,000 miles between plug changes, none of them have a distributor (all ECM which probably lends to the spark plug life), no points, no ignition coil to fail (each cylinder has it's own coil pack) and no valves to adjust. I don't mind doing that stuff but today's cars benefit from yesterday's racing lessons.

Hey Bob, I own the other Superbird with the S3 steering wheel!! I heard there were 3 You have one, I have one and they don't know where the other one is. I new and talked to the gal that owns yours before she sold it. I lost track of it for quite a while and am glad to know you have it now. My bird is a alpine white v code. am 8 track, duel sport mirrors, black buckets with console, tinted glass, factory undercoating.

Thanks for the memories. Everything that you said adds up to how I remember the Superbird. A friend of mine bought a used one in the summer of 1970. It was a green Hemi 4-speed and probably was the wrong car for a high school kid to own. I think he got it for around $3500 or so. Definitely not a subtle car. Is Steve Lehto one of the guys that you purposely didn't mention? I know he wrote a book about the winged cars, but I've never read it.

Around Nov. 1971, my Dad went to the local Chrysler Plymouth dealer who also ran an RV dealership to get a new camp stove. He got talked into trading the old camper in on a new Wheel Camper instead, and while in the back I saw a new purple Superbird with the sticker still on the window. They had it left over and couldn't sell it. The salesman said he could beat that price on the window by a lot if I was interested. I was, but I couldn't afford it if he divided the price by ten. Of course, my Dad asked who would want a purple car, especially with that silly wing. So it is interesting to see that officially, there were no purple Superbirds. It was definitely new, a left-over, and I really doubt the dealer would have painted. Any idea on a purple Superbird?

FYI @1:13 the orange bird shown appears to be EK2 not EV2 as stated, so not sure if you meant to say EK2 . Also there are a couple of Superbirds with power windows, know of at least 1 FY1 car with that option ;)

There are actually 2 root beer mistakes currently known-i have talked to both owners. There is an old rumor of a 3rd that was destroyed 50 years ago. There is also 1 known rally red superbird-i have never spoken with him but would love to! Thanks

I have two HEMI unrestored, waiting to be shipped the Stanley I have already put a deposit on the vehicles and the happy for them to sit there where they are until I am ready to transport them from Florida,one manual, one automatic. WHO WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TRANSPORTING AN IF NEED BE STORAGE FOR THEM, IF DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS GETTING THERE,? IL SORT OUT ONE WAY OR THE AFTER..I HAD TWO MIRRORS WE'RE BOUGHT OUT ON MY SUBBED WHEN IT WAS SOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP.

Was it possible to get the Super Track Pak in a Daytona or Superbird? For example: a Superbird with a 727 Super Track Pak with the Dana 60?

Yes you could get torqueflite with Dana trackpack, or stp. Bob

I have not seen any c15 birds. Doesn't mean there aren't any, but I haven't seen one. Not an option buyers have historically cared about, so I don't look for it. Bob

7 what??? My question was C15 I have all the documentation and collectors guide magazines pointing it out I don't know what you mean 7? Superbirds there are so many around,, its not a MOPAR I've owned.. I would not get back into SB NO WAY DAYTONA YES ALWAYS. I BOUGHT LAST 426 HEMI 70-71 CRATE ENGINE THEY HAD LEFT, AT THE FACTORY DEALERSHIP MENTIONED? IM FINALLY GETTING IT SHIPPED SINCE I'M MOVING FROM NEW ZEALAND TO AUSTRALIA anything 68 what's the best 71 Cuda is what I've got my finger on the pulse at the moment Americans have lost most good cars to overseas buyers in Europe I'm talking to a guy in Switzerland who has a lot of mopars Americans have lost IV through Creed what most owners, have done out there. as I say a fool can easily be parted with there positions.THEY ALL TRY AND ASK TOO MUCH.??? YOU CAN GO TO THE AUCTIONS AND GET A BETTER DEAL VAN OFF A PRIVATE SELLER WHO NEEDS TO COME BACK DOWN TO EARTH ON THEIR PRICES, USE THROUGH THEM TO THE GUTTERS, NOW YOU HEAD TO YOUR RUBBISH BINS CRYING TO RETRIEVE LOST TREASURES.LOL
