In Vietnam, when entering a Catholic church, it is still allowed to wear normal sandals and shoes. Only remove shoes and sandals when entering the main hall of a Buddhist temple.

my tip when applying for an e-visa. e-visa website is famous for the difficulty paying with some cards. if your payment failed a few times try a different card. I checked the internet and that issue comes as far as 4 years ago. another thing to watch when applying for e-visa is that when you filling your details and then press next your dates somehow change themselves. if you fill wrong details your visa will be not valid, and you can be even not checked in for your flight...

In some countries tips are only expected if the person helping you goes above and beyond (like you mention to your wife that you ran out of cigarettes and the server comes back with a fresh pack without being asked) whereas in the US tips are expected.
