ThomasXp Yes your right. I think the intake sound of a VR Engine is better than the exhaust sound. But the exhaust sound is still great. As a NA engine they will sound better and more oldschool than the actual turbo sounds. But both sounds are cool.

i notice that they sound very similar to V6 or Inline-6 but i never heard a VR6 live. They really sound similar? I have a project to swap an VR6 to an VW Gol MK1 (originally 2.0 Inline 4) I will built for time attack.

Cris Johnson it’s a the v is the shape the r is a German word meaning inline so it’s essentially an inline v6 it’s a a different angle than both inline and v6 which gives it the amazing sound i own a 2001 gti vr6

yeah poor syncros only time its ok to hard bang gears is in a whatcha ma call it there almost like a street bike tranny but for a car something dogbox or something idk straight cut gears and shit so faster you shift the better (obviously requires the computer to be working so it throttle cuts perfectly and doesn't grenade, its not magic)and even then HARD shifting is bad even for them you only need to be fast.

They still make them. The VW Atlas V6 has 3 L VR6 (the bandaging is ‘v6’ because it’s technically a ‘v shaped’ engine. [Look up straight piped Atlas]

Kinda sorta the funny thing is ,the 12v head is quite a compromise and it's hard to get a lot of power without a turbo ,there are exceptions of course ,but it was also designed to get a 6cyl engine to fit in the place of a 4cyl. It just happens to sound so freaking awesome, I love mine (the wife's really)

The pinging is from pops inside the stainless steel piping. No muffler, no cat, no resonator. It happens when you run a true straight pipe with popping. Source? I used to work at a tuning shop.
