Awesome video!!! My husband passed away in 2017 and our boat (pontoon) was our second home. We were on Lake Mead every weekend, rain, shine or snow!! Didn’t matter. We fished and camped on the water from Friday night to Sunday evening. We had our kids and their families, dogs or just us. My son has the boat now and is rebuilding it. I shared your video with him because he has a shop and has rebuilt an old Chevy blazer and it’s beautiful and will climb up the mountains with ease. He’s started on the boat! I’m in a wheelchair and I plan on being on the lake again! I miss it! Him and his wife remind me of us back in our mid 40’s, and she is on the boat if it just goes to get gas! She loves to fish !! Our pontoon boat is 24’ long and a blast.. again, thank you for this video!!

$17k is a great price. While some may think it is expensive, you're getting priceless memories of fun times with family and friends. Bonus is you would have been making $$$ with each episode (hopefully) and that should balance it out. As always mate, cheers for providing such great content. Look forward to what comes next.

Great job covering your rebuild in a single video! I learned a lot. We bought a lake house last year with a great dock system. We are now considering a pontoon boat. They are not cheap! The budget friendly ones are, in my opinion, refurbishment candidates. The decent quality ones are $15,000 up (without a trailer) and its a compromise since they don't usually have everything desired. So I am seriously considering building/rebuilding my own. Your experience will come in handy - definitely! Thanks!

So yeah, what they said.😊 Seriously, you did a top notch job on this boat. What impresses me more is your attitude, the way you is how you follow through on everything. Especially selling all that stuff that came off the boat, and the trailer and whatnot. I saw a number of people that were saying you sold it too cheap, you must value your labor more. I thought pontoons were way cheaper than they are. I bought a mint 24' with trailer from Missouri or somewhere. It was $12,000. Then I realized that was 20 years ago. Ouch. You are only 22, and already have a GC License, so you have plenty of wriggle room. You are super on the right track. In 3 years, Your channel, if you keep it/them, will be managed by your secretary, who handles the phones, you are bidding jobs, buying material, checking in on your crew(s). You are going to be one of the winners. Watching your process from buying to selling, I know you will be a millionaire by 30, if you want to. S.C.O.R.E. - Service Corps Of Retired Executives is a great resource, chapters all around. Don't be afraid to switch around, they really get it about things needing to click for both parties. It takes a good 5 years to have things under control, not scrambling to make payroll because you are waiting on a $15,000.00 check that is 45 days past due, and paying yourself what you would accept from another GC trying to hire you. If you have to loan money to the business, that's ok too. The IRS says you need to take a "reasonable" salary. Owners mostly don't want to take a salary, because of the taxes you pay. But, it does include Social Security, regardless of what people say, you will get it. Also, you need to have I think, 3 years, of BIG paychecks, but they use your 3? top income years to calculate the check you will get forever once you retire. benefit. It cannot be obvious, so ramp up and down. It may very well happen anyways. You will always be the last guy to get paid, so getting your pay cut money is fine, and if god forbid, you are the one who falls off a roof, you want all the disability help you can get. You also, and this is just critical, you need to ask: who are you, and what do you want? Dead serious, does business course through your brain? Are you a total hands on guy, not looking to get real big, please keep me out of the office. How long do I want to do this? I HATED Tree Trimming with a passion. We started by putting out flyers, yellow page ads, ask a parent what they were. And we got what we were asking for: people who call from flyers, yellow pages, names on all our trucks. I would go estimate, and you MUST talk to contractors about properly written contracts, and buy yourself a FLIR infra red hand held scanner, shows hot as yellow, red, cool, cold as Green to Blue. Final thing, I promise. Really avoid partnerships unless goals: I want as much as I can take out each week. Well I want to leave more money in the bank for a cash flow insurance. I want to expand. I want it like it is. We were lucky because my brother would go and do whatever I needed him for. He was Ops, I was office. We saved almost every penny, kept buying rental units. Our retirement would be quadrupled by taking all our profits, planting them, and that is far bigger than what we could ever live off from the Tree work. Good Luck, which is another form of making your life into what you want.

Here in Seattle area new pontoons Start at $1,000 per foot. Then add accessories and a little bling and you're easily $30-$50k. Used ones usually don't last more than a week in the classifieds. We have a 26 Kayot and added 2 front fishing seats, 2 rear seats, and an enclosed porta potty in the rear corner behind the driving console. It has foldout beds,a collapsible hardtop, and we replaced the 45 with a 75 and a 20 kicker and a remote controlled retractable electric trolling motor up front. And the Way Koolest trailer, back it on the lawn, crank winch#2 and the entire trailer squats down and gently sets the boat on the lawn and pulls out from under it. Don't sell what you built, it's incredibly universal.👍👍

This was a great build. You mentioned that you wanted to make a party boat so I have an idea for you on the next pontoon build. Start with the base pontoon boat and instead of the railings ( as they are now ), install 4 foot walls that fold down (like an outrigger) once you get to your party location. This would add 8 feet to the width of the party boat. Obviously you would want to add pontoons to the floors that fold out. You could also add 4 feet the front in the same manner, but it would also have two floor fold outs so there are no holes from the front to the sides. The front would fold out forward first, and then the two sides would then fold out to join all the extra flooring that is already there. This would give you an extra 4 feet all the way around. Anyway, it's just a thought and if you happen to like the idea and you do end up building it, I would love to come out and see it.
@perrybb2
@perrybb2 2 жыл бұрын
Sir, absolutely brilliant idea. I've been trying to build my own party pontoon but found that 8 ft wide (which is the widest it is allowed to be street legal) was just too narrow and flipping was a major hazard. The additional foldable pontoons would add so much space and stability. Wow

@@Jeff-gt2xu I think I'm gonna put the additional outriggers on hinges and have them swing all the way flat on the inside rather than have them act as foldable walls. I'll link it here if/when it's completed. Right now it's a pretty trashy and rickety little vessel. It doesn't even have a motor

Great build! Nice to see! I love the ideas, the design, the execution of how it was done. I'm very impressed! You asked about pontoons and why some people don't like them - I cannot give you an answer other than they don't look like a traditional boat and they have a long history of not being very fast which some would find a problem. Of course, I've seen plenty of pontoon boats towing water skiers. My only concern is that given my climate (Maine and Maryland), the season is short and there's no way to escape the elements. I wish I could find a pontoon boat that was enclosed, or maybe a hardtop, that doesn't look like an RV on a barge. There seems to be only two choices - wide open with a bimini top or an RV on floats. Yes, there are some canvas wrap-arounds that go on a regular pontoon boat but that looks like a tent on floats and the windows are plastic. What I think I'd like is one of those enclosed "river taxi" types you see in Europe or something that looks like a glass-enclosed restaurant boat on a pontoon-sized boat. There doesn't seem to be anything out there. And, anything close to that is $$$$. Again, great build. Great job! All the best! Have fun!

Most people watching this are here for the build. As a boat person….You can only carry the amount of passengers it’s rated for. Not how many people you can fit. There’s no “night boating”, you just happen to get in as it’s dark or you go out early. You need the rating plate (passengers/horsepower) back on it. There was no sign of registration markings or pfd’s. Putting it in water at night with no one who knew how to operate it. Basically from a boater perspective it’s a train wreck. From a restore it looks fantastic tho. Good job!

The only thing we'd probably miss is the ability to tow water skiers. FYI: if you mount a Blackstone griddle in conjunction with your existing BBQ, you will have an awesome floating pub! Also, we bought a portable 12 Volt Dometic compressor refrigerated cooler. Much better than having to deal with a cooler that needs ice.

I was a tinkerer buying and rebuilding cars (later UCLA computer engineer/retired@50) so I fixed/painted their boats, as well as a 356 porsche and my final labor of love '70 Triumph TR6 ground-up restoration (garaged so it still SHOULD work!). ... boats are "Hole in the water to sink money into!" sort of like british cars (though today ROVER is owned by FORD!.

I love your build . That trailer is awesome. Looks like a runway at night. But to load your boat it's great. Gave me some ideas I have a 24 foot that I want to rebuild .

Pontoon boats are cool. You definitely get the most bang for the buck in terms of walking around and using it as a floating living space. We did find the limitation is they don't recommend taking it out 10 miles into the Gulf for the simple reason it is slow and you can't out-run the storms.

Outstanding! It's the best boat ever because it's YOURS and you built it!!

Great job !! Your vids inspired me to do a pontoon. We came down to buy your fencing, but it was a different size than mine and wouldn't work. My boat is done just waiting on warmer water. I'm building a couple of projects for one of your "Lake neighbors"

Great build! Very nice!!! My only concern was that you port and starboard lights lens should not be facing forward. They should both be turned so the 90 degree angles can be seen from the front and respective sides.

Great boat and video! For a you say, beginner, WOW! I'd love to take that boat out. I fish too so, I'd need a different build. The Lights and stereo are great. Love the bar/helm! I have a sailboat so I do appreciate how much work you put into this boat! I just kinda fell upon this video, think ill subscribe and see what's up next. Thank You and Stay Safe.

Thanks to your video series I am starting my own "pontoon" build. Very inspirational! Mine is going to be built on a 30 foot house boat catamaran hull. Will use a lot of your great ideas and sponsors. Keep up with the dream and the channel!

Good Job. It was worth it. I had a 24 ft pontoon that would take on water in the front pontoon chambers if it sat in the water for more that a few hours. We submarined that puppy a few times. I wish I would have had that 3rd toon on that boat. Good Video and great Job on the Boat

if you do Amber or dark yellow lights around the boat it’ll help repel those bugs. Blue LED’s are right up there with black lights as the most attractive for bugs.
