huh..., the story might have made more sense if it was Dormammu was the major villain of the story, his magic could have been the reason why the world was going all downhill, characters are acting out of character due to spell of madness that effect a select few. It probably wouldn't save the comic, but it would feel that there was more effort into this event.

Fun fact: Samuel L. Jackson actually was close to suing Marvel for using his likeness as it was without his permission, but instead they negotiated a movie deal, which Samuel L. Jackson made it so him as Nick Fury would show up in every movie even if it did nothing for the plot, using his face on the ultimate comics as leverage.

You know it's funny, in Ultimate FF this Doom was actually revealed to be a doombot (well, an impostor).

Yep Cap is pretty awesome here. Volunteering to stay in hell so that Thor can be with the woman he loves really shows just what a great friend and comrade he is. A pity then that he later left spiderman for dead on the bridge, after Peter took a fucking bullet for him. Seriously he didn't even bother to get medical attention to the wounded teenager who had just saved his life and who at the time was his protégé. It's Steve's fault Ultimate Peter died and it's just further proof that EVERYONE in the ultimate books outside of the spiderman series are assholes.

You know what would be awesome? When Thor starts his trial we get a two page wide spread of an enormous army with Thor as a speck. Even the god of thunder has no hope of victory when Captain America shows up... with every dead hero. The allies of WW2 see Cap and switch sides. Everyone is wondering how this is possible but we get a shot of Hela and she see's a rune on the heroes and only grins. As heroes die in the living they pop up in Hel/Valhalla and join the fight. Eventually they win and meet with Hela. She says the life for death thing but before the others can say anything Odin appears. He says he will stay and ALL the heroes will return to the living. Hela accepts. Odin casts some quick magic so he talk to Thor. He says he is old and going to die anyway. Words of love are exchanged and Odin tells Thor to try and learn from his mistakes and remember to trust his allies. Thor regains his hammer and at the end of the series he takes his rightful place as the king of Asgard.

I seriously can't even put into words how much it pisses me off that Doctor Strange dies like that. Way to just... negate someone who is SUPPOSED to be EXTREMELY powerful. Correction: SUPREMELY powerful.

You know what makes the whole Thor sacrificing himself for Steve and Valkyrie is that later they have him come back to life because he slept with Hela and gets her pregnant. Honestly since he was dead at the time I don’t know if this counts as Thor cheating on Valkyrie. I am just hoping that she isn’t either Loki’s daughter (in the Ultimate universe Loki is Thor’s half bother instead of adopted brother which makes the incest worse) or Thor’s sister (what Hela is in the MCU). What would have made more sense to me is have Steve be the one to make the sacrifice and have him and Hela fall in love (I don’t know if Hela is evil in the Ultimate universe) which is why Hela let’s Steve go back to the living realm. Maybe even have Steve say he prefers being with Hela as her lover since there is not much left for him in the land of the living since his short lived relationship with Janet didn’t work out because she cheated on him with her abuser and his first love moved on and married Bucky, but he would always come back to help them when he is needed because he is Captain America. Also for those who don’t know Bucky in the Ultimate universe made it out of the war just fine and married Steve’s first love and growing old since the Winter Soldier didn’t exist at the time. I feel like if it did they worth’s Hades made their own version of the Winter Soldier story except have a terrible twist like Bucky willingly became the Winter Soldier because he was jealous of Steve’s powers instead of being brainwashed like he was in the 616 universe and the MCU.

I was a teenager when Ultimatum was originally published and I'm offended that Marvel thought I would be interested in this garbage, especially the Blob eating the Wasp.

"the wasps" was actually heartbreaking for me I'll because of a 'avengers next generation movie' Ant-man and wasp's kid was my favorite Like he didn't feel in control of his powers and it was so cute just to watch him struggle Justin time for the final battle to just kick butt against a giant evil demon robots of his dad! That movie was strange.....

This also screws with Magneto's motivations. He doesn't want to kill mutants. That's a big part of him. Pretty sure one or two were killed with all this, so yeah.

Dr. Strange's death and Dormammu is the weirdest to me. I mean at least people noticed Wasp getting killed, but I don't really remember anything being done with Strange afterward or anyone following up the invasion from the dark dimension. I mean what. Did everyone forget?

You know how they couldve explained Magneto doing all this? In his grief and anger, he explodes in rage and his powers go haywire, effecting all of the metal in the earth and pushing it so hard it forced the Earth to perform a massive shift on its axis. The sudden shift forced tidal waves into the east coast, caused earthquakes and tectonic shifts from the catastrophic movements, brought an avalanche down upon Latveria. Suddenly Magneto isn't a terrible and irredeemable monster. Suddenly he's taken aback by his sheer power and the chaos he's done. Suddenly he's visiting his old friend Charles, who always used to console and understand him, only to find his sympathy well run dry. Suddenly being compared to Hitler making him snap is more understandable, and his murder of the last hope for humanity in his heart is gone by his own hand. The symbolism of his connection between his humanity and his mutant blood is gone and he's completely lost. Now the heroes fighting and killing him is tragic because of the circumstances, Magneto is killed and we grieve over those who had died and those who had fallen. It's not perfect, but it's sure as shit better than what they actually did.

Doom: "My plan is flawless! I will push Magneto over the edge, and make him declare war on mankind!" Magneto: *goes berserk and kills millions of people* Doom: *shocked pikachu face* Me: "...f*cking....wow, this is stupid."

What's funny is looking at some of the dropped plot points about this book AFTER the Ultimate Universe ended. Like... who the hell was the woman who took Dr. Strange's body?!

Seeing Doctor Dooms 'plan' I'm reminded of Lex Luthor and his plan in BvS. Similarly convoluted with uncertain goals. Maybe the whole manipulate someone else to do my bidding and then somehow I'll come out on top is not a very viable concept except on occassion.

Honestly the whole plan to set two enemies against each other so they will both be weak enough for you to defeat the winner is a fine plan, but it is the plan the robots had, and the plan Doom had, so only watching/reading these ultimate/ultimatum event books looks really repetitive and stupid. What, after the robots set magneto and the ultimate against each other and fight the winner, then Doom is gonna fight the winner between them? Then would Dormamu show up to fight the winner of that fight? Then would Ultron fight the winner of that fight? And was all of this really a secret plan by Galatcis to have Earth fight each other until everyone was either dead or confused as to who was trying to take them over?

Dunno about Ultimate Mags, but I believe regular ol' Mags had the ability to generate electricity in addition to the magnetism. So I could almost kinda buy the idea of him using electricity to cauterize the wound. Except the panel doesn't make it clear at all if that's what he's supposed to be doing.

I remember reading somewhere that the working title for this series was Heaven on Earth and they changed it to this just before syndication to make it obvious it was a sequel to Ultimates 3. This is why Magneto says "heaven on Earth" so overdramatically as if it were the damn title.

I dunno, Doom's plan still kinda makes sense to me. If you get two foes to punch each other in the face until one goes down, whoever wins is still gonna be weakened in some way. If Magneto had won after this, he would have one less arm, and if the Ultimates had won after this, they would be down a bunch of heroes. Doom's only mistake was not staying out and recruiting forces to quietly sit in Latveria until someone lost... But how was he supposed to know Latveria would freeze over?
