►4 lbs (12 medium) russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled
►1 1/4 cups hot milk (we used whole milk)
►2 sticks (226 grams) unsalted butter at room temperature
►1 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste (we used sea salt)

I could seriously eat mashed potatoes for every meal for the rest of my life and die happy! There are so many variations, but plain ol' buttery mashed potatoes are always welcome at the dinner table. Love this recipe!

This is a great recipe. I usually add my milk and butter and mash in the pot over med-low heat. So with this recipe I put the mixing bowl and whisk attachment in the oven on warm first. Delicious!

I use an electric hand mixer, or mash with a fork for more texture (lumpy). I salt the water during boil and also add about a 1/2 teaspoon dried garlic powder. After mashing I do a salt check and add to taste. Sometimes I leave about half of the skin on and call them dirty mashed potatoes. I use half and half for the dairy. Alternative, i've found using a good chicken stock instead of dairy is flavorful without the creamyness of the milk as long as you whip it up real good and aerate the potatoes fluffy. I made the mash potatoes and everyone loved it! I was a little worried about the amount of butter, but the butter made it so creamy and delicious! It was not heavy at all. I made this as well as the baked salmon which was also insanely delicious. Your recipes are fantastic, thank you so much! I am slowly learning to be a better cook because of you. :)

Interesting. My great aunt uses an electric whisk for her potatoes but I just bought a ricer for mine. I also cut my potatoes into smaller pieces, that way it's about 10 minutes for boiling time.

Another night of year end entertaining and another epic that had my friends gushing. How can a humble dish of mashed potatoes taste so good and be so addictive like crack. It has to be Natasha’s recipe, of course. Thank you for teaching us all how to be good cooks. You are like the Julia Child of our modern times.

Hi! Natasha sister.... My name is shivali Loads of love from India.... Can you cook any Asian recipes.. Strong reason behind this is I lost my mom last year.... So now I have to cook by my self ....the sad is half of the Ingredients r not available easly in my place so I couldn't make your heavy cream cream cheese asparagus parsley contains recipes ....please upload some easy rice recipes Natasha sister....
