Ultra-Orthodox Draft Order Threatens Netanyahu Government

5 күн бұрынJERUSALEM, Israel - Israel is facing rising pressures from outside and within today. As the Jewish state is simply looking to protect its people from daily rocket attacks, the U.S. is pushing for a diplomatic solution to the fighting between Lebanon-based Hezbollah and Israel before it turns into a full-blown war. Meanwhile, Israel's Supreme Court ruling Tuesday concerning the drafting of ultra-Orthodox men could also pose problems for Netanyahu's government.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned Hezbollah that Washington can't stop Israel from going to war to prevent the terror group's daily attacks on the north.
"Hezbollah's provocations threaten to drag the Israeli and Lebanese people into a war that they do not want," Austin said Tuesday. "And such a war would be a catastrophe for Lebanon, and it would be devastating for innocent Israeli and Lebanese civilians."

Nothing can stop them except the fact that the tailored welfare benefits that allow them to keep this lifestyle will end. They will get the status of deserters, they won't get allowance to study and the Yeshiva will get no budget. They won't be able to get legal employment or even a driving license. They will no longer qualify for subsidized daycare, prolonged schooling, subsidized housing so having 7 kids on the public dime will end unless they go to serve. They can also go abroad but no country want welfare queens.

We all like a good fairy tale until reality hits. That is what is happening now. They should serve, it should not have taken a court ruling. They need the manpower and they weren't always exempt. Only a small number that has ballooned. These are the same groups that are most vocal in calling for a never ending presence, and the denial of statehood. The capture of more territory. They drain the resources of the state, and provide no benefit in return even when the state needs defending. Shame on them.
