Thousands of ultra-Orthodox demonstrators protested in Jerusalem against the conscription of Haredi yeshiva students into the military, with some clashing with police and throwing rocks. The protests, primarily involving the extremist Jerusalem Faction, led to five arrests and included setting fires in the street and attacking the car of Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf. This unrest stems from the government's revival of a bill to lower the exemption age from military service for ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students from 26 to 21 and gradually increase their conscription rate. Demonstrators expressed their refusal to enlist through signs and aggressive actions, particularly targeting Goldknopf, who heads the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party. Police intervened to safely evacuate him from the area.
