ULTRAKILL 85 - Revisiting A One-Machine Army

16 күн бұрын0-4: A ONE MACHINE ARMY is the first prelude level to be touched up, since it's the shortest.
It originally didn't really have a unique theme to it to stand out from the other prelude levels, so now it's all about heat!
I considered gameplay functionality for the cooling chambers, but decided against it, so they're just visual flair for worldbuilding.
Limbo's touch-ups are more or less done now, and the enemy rewrite is making good progress, but don't expect Layer 8: FRAUD this year. Unless you love being disappointed, I guess.

Guys I've figured it out. The fact that there's so much steam in this level is a subtle clue to the game Ultrakill coming to the hit game platform steam. Truly genius, Hakita.

the reason there are cooling chambers is because Hakita cooked so hard that it caught on fire

If you take a close look, you will notice that the rooms are very hot. This is in relation to the fact that Hakita is cooking with gas!

One thing I want to point out is how the fog affect is being used to show heat. It comes in instantly when V1 enters one of the scolding hot arenas, and gradually dissipates when going through the cooling chambers. It seems like a small detail that provides a lot to make the scene convincing.

Well, this most CERTAINLY gives it that "factory" -ish feel that it normally gave, but to a WHOLE new level, especially the added cooling chambers (makes me all the more curious what the other levels look like... and if Lust may change as well, since we now know that Prelude and Limbo are getting that treatment...).

It is so sad to think that sooner that everyone expects it, the final update for ULTRAKILL will be released. I dont want this to end. In any case, i'm glad i was there to witness the journey, from the Demo on itch to the remakes of the earlier levels.

I think it was a bit necesary. The team got better and better at making Ultrakill that the early levels are uncomparable to the new ones. It started since Act 2,but it became more noticeable with Layer 7. They don't look as polished as everything else.

Very cool stuff. I like all the various extra details you added like that cooling station to hammer home the fact that this isn't Hell proper yet, just a facility near the gate/mouth of Hell set up by the architects of the Hell Exploration and Excavation project.
