Meganeko is the name of the artist. I've never played Ultrakill myself, but basically everything Meganeko does is peak

There's a funny bit of trivia involved with this song, if memory serves: after experiencing Ultrakill when the game was still in its infancy, Meganeko was inspired to compose this song, and when Hakita later listened to it, he knew he had to put it into the game somewhere. So he eventually decided to create the in-game Cyber Grind feature, a.k.a. an 'infinite horde mode' on a variable-morphing stage where the player tries to last as long as they can against progressively more dangerous waves of enemies, and put this track as its theme. Yes, you read that right - Ultrakill's Cyber Grind feature exists because of a *music track.* If you couldn't already tell, this game is BONKERS.

In Ultrakill, you essentially play a blood-fueled robot traveling down through the layers of hell, slaughtering every damned soul you meet (and anyone or anything else you may find along the way). It's a frantic first person shooter that actively encourages you to be highly aggressive because their blood restores your health, so you find yourself constantly in enemy's faces trying to balance between doing damage, healing, and trying not to get hurt. I should warn you about two things: one, it is *not* an easy game, and if you don't have experience with shooters you may find it exceedingly difficult. Two, there is a *lot* of secret content, which you may struggle to find if you aren't an obsessive lunatic. If you care about finding secrets, check a guide.

Ultrakills soundtrack has no misses. Most of the music is made by the developer Hakita, as his artist name Heaven Pierce her. My personal favourite is Death Odyssey. But Cyber grind is the standout Ultrakill track.

This piece is one of, if not, the most beloved in the whole game, it's only rivaled by 3 other pieces, Tenebre Rosso Sangue, ORDER, and Death Odyssey.

if you listen to the riff at 4:30 in the track, (4:51 in this video) you might recognise it from somewhere. A bit of a musical easter egg, and a nod to Mick Gordon.

This is an interesting one cause Meganeko isn't really a video game composer per se, but is very video game-adjacent. His music is used/liscensed in a lot of rhythm games, and his electronic style usually sounds very VGM-inspired (this song's a bit of an outlier). As far as I'm aware this is his only song that's originally composed for a game though. Meganeko's relatively popular so I imagine him being featured gave the game a solid signal boost. (It's how I first heard of it, anyway). Though aside from being A: hectic and fast paced, and B: really good, it definitely sounds like a Meganeko song first, and Ultrakill song second. It doesn't have the same identity. It's missing the unnerving, anxious, panic-attack feeling, and the "filthier" sound the rest of the soundtrack has. Which I just now realized is probably why it's separated from the main campaign, so it's hardly a problem.

Jesse absolutely needs to listen to Tenebrae Rosso Sangue. It would be amazing

Even the more "mellow" section felt high octane. That descending melody on the keyboard with the shredding in the back? *chefs kiss* adding this one to my music playlist for sure lmao

Funnily enough, Spotify recommended me this song before I even knew about the game. I can't say the game is my cup of tea (too fast paced for me) but the OST goes HARD.

It's been a while since I listened to a version of Cyber Grind that didn't have "Everybody get up it's time to slam now We got a real jam goin' down Welcome to the Space Jam" as lyrics.

So uh funny enough that comment you read isn't far off lol. Cybergrind is also the name of the mode and its basically a way to farm points for the shop and also to trial out weapons so uh yeah it is the training mode. Also just saying i swear every time the guitars kick in you get a dps buff because every time it kicks in your brain just says "the violence has escalated".

The thing with ULTRAKILL is the further the level, the better quality of content you'll get in terms of gameplay, levels and especially ost. At least from my experience after following this game for like 3 years of development, I can actually feel the dev improve over those years.

This track is just pure blood pumping goodness, it plays in a mode where you’re fighting endless waves of enemies, so “training mode” is actually an apt description. I’m not surprised that Jesse was speechless and just vibing along, that happens when you first experience a lot of Ultrakill’s music.

Just in case you didn't know, New Blood Interactive is pretty much a Studio/Publisher that specializes in old school style games with graphics and gameplay calling back to PC games of the 90's and even 80's. Their motto is, and I'm not kidding here, "We Hate Money

So cybergrind is slike and bloody palace from dmc. Infinite levels, more and deadlier enemies spawns with each round and arena reshapes itself. You really feel like an unsotpabble death machine while this ost is playing, untill you fall of arena like a goofy cartoon character. Hope you will streaam ultrakill, this game is really awesome and unique.
