I keep hearing people say this show is "dark." Wh-why? I haven't seen a single episode so far that isn't hilariously stupid. Like I guess maybe "monsters are killing people" is dark, sure, but how can anyone watch this show with a straight face? It feels like saying '66 Batman is dark because people do crimes in it.

@@princessmaly The first episode or two (I forget if it's a two parter) is pretty dire, then you get a genuinely gory murder a few episodes later, and then in the final stretch of the show there's a MASSIVE catastrophe/overall status quo change that I've never seen any other Ultraman come close to doing. But all that being said, most of the show does feel like the cartoon fever dream of an insane clown lol. I think that juxtaposition is one of the reasons it's my favorite Ultra series.
