That was the best example of ultrasonic watch cleaning I have ever seen. Especially the bracelet and the watch stem sleeve. Thanks Dimitri!

The biggest issue I face right now with my new ultrasonic cleaner are the liquids, I have bought ph2, ph13, another red liquid, alcohol, and this video shows another one that I don’t even have so I don’t know when to use what… 😮‍💨

Hi Dimitri! So, with the temperatur of around 60-65c, is it safe to use ultrasonic cleaner like this, with solutions like Elma Suprol Rinse? Im not thinking directly in the cleaner, but water in the ultrasonic cleaner, then glass jars with the solution in the water..

Good demonstration. Was the center wheel usable? Is there a chance of jewels being loosened on the mainplate?
@therealwatchdoctor
@therealwatchdoctor 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter, "Was the center wheel usable?" you will see that in the assembling video ;-). "Is there a chance of jewels being loosened on the mainplate?" Yes, that's possible, but this has rarely happened to me. It is important to check the end shake of the wheels during assembly, so you can be sure that the jewels are in the right place. If this is not the case, they must be adjusted.

Hello Sfirakis, cheaper cleaners that can do no harm in my opinion, the effect will only be less powerful.

Would you recommend ultrasonic for watch parts?
@therealwatchdoctor
@therealwatchdoctor 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Watcheyes, if the watch parts are very dirty/rusty, I first put them in an ultrasonic bath, and after that in the cleaning machine. But if you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, you can of course also clean it in your own ways by hand ect.
@Watcheyes

@@therealwatchdoctor what I have heard is that ultrasonic should not be used for watch parts, only the casing and wrist band etc. But I don't know.

But would the water not rust those parts? I’m sure you need to use IPA solvent to displace the water after an ultrasonic water bath right?
@clintlund1170
@clintlund1170 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dimitri just wondering how you dried the parts after the ultrasonic clean? I would assume if you didn’t dry each part there would be a chance of corrosion occurring if water was left on the movement parts after they were cleaned
@Daveyboyz1978
@Daveyboyz1978 2 жыл бұрын
If you blow them off then submerge in pure alcohol any water will disperse. Alcohol will evaporate from the parts quickly when removed. I am trying to find out if alcohol is ok with the fork, I know solvents can take the pallete fork stones out. Can I put the balance in the sonic too? Attached to the main plate.

@@Daveyboyz1978 did you find out? I have some parts with jewels which im not sure how to clean an I’ve also been told not to dip those in IPA since IPA can corrode away the glue that hold the jewels in place
@Daveyboyz1978
@Daveyboyz1978 2 жыл бұрын
@@hsvr I decided not to put the pallet fork in the sonic at all. The balance I did so attatched to the main plate. I figured it would be ok in soapy water followed by alcohol. I have seen them cleaned off of the mainplate just by dipping rather than in a sonic, they are very delicate. I had problems getting the train of wheels back in mine, they aren't moving freely and I don't know why. Its not the balance, that operates ok, i take it out, palette gork and pallet fork bridge on... feels ok. Get the wheels in and lined up but when its all assembled it feels locked up Sorry I can't tell you more, I am just an amateur at this game.

Thanks Dimitri, good vid. I see some watch makers don’t suggest ultrasonic cleaning delicate watch parts from inside the movement. It can damage them, crack jewels, lift jewels off pallet forks etc. I do use an ultrasonic cleaner, but this does worry me, what are your thoughts for the most delicate of watch parts? Cheers, Boyd

@100amps 2 жыл бұрын
These notions have turned out to be myths. Even the big name parts cleaning machines have incorporated US into their regular wash cycles. And I would not put pallet forks or (loose) balance assemblies into any cleaning machine.
