Ultrawide Monitors are great but managing multiple windows on them can sometimes be a pain compared to having a multi-monitor setup instead. But I think I found the "almost" perfect solution to take full advantage of your ultrawide monitor

Thanks for this. Had a 21:9 for just over 2 months now and was looking for something that would allow me to snap to 1920x1080 in the middle of the screen with some other apps on the left and right and this is exactly what I need!

I've had DisplayFusion for years; I mainly used it to manage taskbar across 3 monitors. I recently bought an ultrawide and have been struggling with getting Windiws to play nice with the layout and sizes of my windows. So I'm really happy that the first result I got when looking for ultrawide monitor tips is recommending something I already have.

Oh my gosh, thanks you soooo much for making this video. I'm an accountant that just uprgraded from two monitors to one ultra wide hoping I could use it as 3 monitors. It's been a huge desktop mess! Awesome video, just bought the Odyssey G9 and have been battling with my windows, Displayfusion was pretty easy to setup and now the windows are much more manageable.

I have found my favorite default split for 3440x1440 to be 1939 in the middle (about 4:3) flanked by two panes of 750 and 751. This allows for the middle window to display 1080p content at it's native resolution of 1920x1080 plus the 19 pixels added by Edge's scrollbar and thin blue border.

An ultrawide is nothing more than a 16:9 big screen with the top and bottom sections cut to make it look longer,soo...don't worry.

this is exactly what Iwanted. I was hesitant to get an ultrawide monitor to replace my 3 monitors because i wanted an easy way to maximize screens on each respective screen. The fact that i can creat "Virtual monitors" and still perform that function is awesome. Definitely going to shop now for a large screen and use DisplayFusion

@@fabulousfred87 it's easy. Just download the software and install it. Then there are a ton of options in it. Full screen game will always take the full screen though. If you want the game only to take up part of the window, you need to use it in window mode.

I am facing the exact same struggles you are at this moment. This video earned you a subscriber. i recently purchased an LG 34UM monitor (34" 2560 by 1080) to replace my triple 24"1080p monitors. My computer is used for gaming, and light multitasking. (vm's, browsing, file transfers, etc,) so in order to reduce cable clutter and increase overall neatness of my computer room I decided to give 34" ultrawide an opportunity. even though games look beautiful on that 34" ultrawide's widescreen ips panel. I had to go back to triple displays and put my ultrawide in the closet because I just could go back to a single display after tasting triple screens. I felt confined and limited when trying to perform simple multitasking, . after watching this I might pull it out of it's box and give it another try

Nice video. I don't have an ultrawide monitor or even dual monitor setup because I use a screen space mapped Wacom pen for everything but games, but I do wish that Microsoft would make Windows live up to it's name a bit more and give users more power to manage windows instead of adding 3d paint tools and other useless stuff. Regarding the Wacom pen I mentioned, they can be set up to map to one screen and then switch between screens with a keypress on a multi-monitor setup, which is sort of bearable, but I think a single ultrawide monitor would force me to map less than half the tablet area to get correct proportions. Wacom Intuous is 16:10, to fit Mac screens :/

I'm considering to buy a UW monitor.. for workload and for gaming. For gaming can you actually split games to like the middle of the screen with on the sides still space to read things like maybe read a chat when you stream or so? Thats actually my biggest question i have for getting an ultrawide monitor and its kinda holding me back to get one. Or does this only work when you play games in windowed borderless if so, do you lose FPS because of this?

@DavidZhang - When I share my screen on Teams Application, can I still choose to share Screen 1, 2 or 3? or I can ONLY share the whole Monitor screen? Hopes I am making sense because sometimes when I share screen, I have to take note as well and I cannot do that when I am in presentation mode and I write too slow to capture the notes. Thanks!

Tried ultrawide, but went back to duals because it actually has better workspace separation. I think the bezel is a benefit in keeping multitasking organized. The ultrawide felt crowded especially with 3 apps side by side. Can't beat the ultrawide for gaming though, but that doesn't pay the bills.

I've been wanting to get a small monitor I can use on the side in portrait mode, but can't find any good information on the size. If possible, I'd like for it to be roughly the same height as my 22" monitor is tall, but all the measuring instructions that I've found online, measure the dimension at an angle, which isn't a lot of help. What is the average height of a widescreen monitor? and are there any good small monitors in that size you might recommend, which also support portrait mode?

would it be possible to set up part of your screen for a game and a small sliver for something like a streaming chat screen? if so, would both screens be captured by a capture card or could you set OBS to only capture the 1 screen with the game for example? im hoping this might be the solution to my problem.

So I tried the Chrome plugin you mentioned, ImprovedTube. It does work initially, but about 50% of the videos, the video stretches beyond my window edge (I'm also trying the 3 split you are using). I have to maximize the window twice and then it will fit to edge fine. Any idea?

Question time: I currently run a triple screen setup. And using that, I can run games on the center screen:1 in full screen while at the same time have the left and right screens 2 and 3 "awake" for other windows (imagine running a flight sim with maps etc). Could this be done with Display fusion? The question I'm really asking is: will full screen programs treat a Display Fusion Virtual Screen as a Real Screen?

If you split a display into 2 sections, does windows recognize each of them as 2 separate screens so you can easily share one screen but not the other? I'm about to get a 49 inch monitor and I just want the same functionality I have with my current dual monitor set up where I'm able to share one monitor but not the other.
