That marathon programme on Bloomsday, 1982 was a high point for our public service broadcasting. The production was unique in its ambition and imagination then, and its achievement stands unequalled today. Now, here it is, digitally remastered on CD and MP3, for the pleasure of new generations of listeners and readers. Brilliant! The fact that Joyce wanted the book perormed and cosidered it a text to be 'heard as well as read' is displayed perfectly here. This is by far the best version of Ulysses anywhere as far as i can see. Great thanks to the person who bothered to take the time making this available, incredibly generous.

Oh my God, I never realized that those poetic anecdotes were Finch's own thoughts! That makes so much more sense, and it's so incredibly inventive, combining 3rd and 1st person.

I've read Ulysses once and a second time I chose the sections I liked best. My favorite Joycean vignette was the Christmas dinner in portrait of an artist as a young man. I am 78 and was hoping an abridged version would be released before I kicked the bucket. The best sentence in Ulysses is Dedalus the senior at Patty Digiams funeral when he said, Poor Patty Dignam, as decent a man as ever wire a hat,

@@mediolanumhibernicus3353 Was commonly used in England too, during the Middle English period and Shakespeare's time anyway. That's one of the things I love about real Dublin English, it's like a museum of English, if that makes sense. "More English than the English themselves," you could say!

Brilliant! A real find.Easier to listen to with the different voices & (mercifully!) restrained sound effects than even that superb actor Jim Norton reading the whole thing ...which I have on CD.

An excellent audiobook! Incredible job! If anyone has difficulty figuring out what's going on in the text of Ulysses, they should listen to this audiobook. Things become so clear!

Joyce is great, but I enjoyed Faulkner, Proust and Willa Cather more, especially Cather's Death Comes for the Archbishop.
