Yes me too...I was 60 when I got a brace top and bottom for nearly 2 years and tooth out to make space......amazing how it all came together... couldn’t be more pleased.,

AGREED! EVEN WITH INSURANCE! I only go when it's absolutely necessary, honestly. I know that's not good, but I know I'm alone.

Even with insurance here (USA) it’s a huge pain. My 15 year old needs an extraction, and I’ve been running circles with our insurance for nearly a month now. Meanwhile my child is in pain, and runs the risk of major infection, the longer she has to wait! I truly despise the health system!

Yes! Those dentists are like angels.

She looks great, no argument! But having teeth is about so much more than being pretty. Being functional, not having to deal with constant pain (possibly), self-confidence, better food choices (not being limited to mush), being a full participant in your own life instead of a shy observer, a better outlook... so much more, but those are all good. I lost my teeth due to terminal illness, and am unlikely to get them replaced because of my condition and finances. As terrible as the pandemic has been, I am so thankful for masks - I would never leave the house otherwise.

Expensive, yes, but so is the cost of the products, technology and training that went into it. Brushing twice and flossing daily aren’t nearly as expensive.

@@summersojourner not everyone has similar dental problems though caused by not brushing. My Mom had a condition called soft teeth, and needed a partial denture when she was only 18 years old. By the time she had her last child at age 26, she had full dentures by then.

My teeth have been a problem since I was 10 my front tooth never grew in and I had to get a operation in hospital to retrieve it from my nose leaving a gapping hole that had to be dressed with gauze and clove .so my whole childhood smelt of clove .plus 8 extra teeth from everywhere then braces till 16y and still never right as the tooth from my nose that the put in the front turned black .all I ever wanted was to be able to smile . But sadly never have I wish I could win the lotto and get mine done and start a charity for people in the same boat as myself . Scotland UK

We are bankrupting ourselves with essential medical costs for our citizens and citizens of .Mexico. Can you imagine if we paid for dental care too?

Maybe the government should spend less on military equipment and more on their citizens health

James, movies and so called influencers have stigmated the image of “natural looking” teeth. Everyone wants the Hollywood smile, flat and straight, no gaps, and white as a sheet of paper. As a dental technician( the ones that Actually make all the appliances and crowns/teeth that fit in the mouth for those who don’t know), there’s nothing more I love doing than recreating the “what I used to look like “ dentures, loads of pictures and info, giving them character and true life like looks. I get more compliments off dentures that aren’t perfect than the ones that are. My tutor always said, if you get compliments on new teeth, they are rubbish, because the don’t blend and look natural. It took me four days just to set the teeth right on my mom, to recreate what she had before- she’s a fussy artist, knows what she wants!- but the result was both parents in floods of tears! That’s what I live for, not the comical slap on glow in the dark strip,of plastic everyone wants! She looks great, considering what she had before, so not that hard to achieve, but if they were, like you said, more full of character, they could have been amazing!

You have no idea of the cost of the products, technology and training involved. That’s where the cost is. It’s much cheaper to brush twice and floss daily but lots of people don’t do that.

Go to Europe, Hungary for example, and all this work would cost you 2000 dollars

Better than the rotting teeth she had before. I’m sure she was in a lot of pain with broken teeth. They look great, it’s not trash dentistry
