Thank you for a great reaction. It depends on your taste of music, but you can find practically every genre under the sun in Dimash "catalogue" (repertoire ). Dimash's official genre as he said himself is a crossover. His idols as he was growing up were MJ, Queen, Seline Dion, and you will find a lots inspiration in his performances. But i must say, that despite the influences, even when singing a cover Dimash always makes his own (respectful) and unique version of a song. Just check "Show must go on", "My heart wil go on" and "All by myself" to see that. But Dimash also writes his own music, just check out his latest live performance of "When i got you" in blues/soul style. As Dimash is an ambassador for peace, a special mention need to be made of "The Story of One Sky" project, that he spent 3 years of writing. It is a total masterpiece. There are English subs on this video, but it's about a man who is unwell and asks "Why do I live, why do I die, why do I laugh, why do I cry" and imagines being a bird & seeing the world from above. A beautiful, sad song, that nobody has ever sung as well as Dimash. He sings in 14 languages, including English, sings all genres from Opera to pop, rock, folk, jazz, r&b, classical & he even raps in a couple of songs. He is considered as the best vocalist in the world right now, has a worldwide following & regularly sells out arenas all over the world. He was 26/27 when he recorded this live Digital Show for his fans (he calls us his Dears) when his concerts had to be cancelled due to the covid lockdowns. I dont need to say much as others have covered it but this was the first song i ever heard Dimash sing and it was his 2017 version from the Chinese singing show I am Singer. That is a great performance as it was the first time the contestants heard him sing and their reactions are priceless. And yes like you i didnt have subtitles (not an option for that video but you can turn them on with this version) i felt the song the way he sang it and i knew right then i had to hear more songs by him. He does amazing covers if not better than the original for many songs. He is truly a remarkable young man and as others say most humble sweet guy. I'm sorry I'm a bit late🫣 First of all, if you pick up the video from his channel, there are a subtitles in different languages because he has a fanbase in about 140 different countries. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of daily hard training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert! And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 16 or 17 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 in Almaty, Kazakhstan was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing.
