I bought the same one this morning, $16:48 + taxes. Am allergic to almost everything 😔😔. Wasn't sure I installed it the right way, so when I started smelling it, not a bad smell though. I started looking for videos with that exact one. Turned out, I installed it correctly.

Only problem with higher merv filters is that they clog up quicker which causes your ac to work harder and will ultimately reduce the life expectancy of your ac unit. I wouldn't really recommend going above a merv 8 filter unless your ac is equipped to handle it and you're religious about maintaining your filters every two to three months. If you have allergy issues you're better off attaching a higher merv filter to the back of a box fan for purifying your indoor air and using the lower merv filters for your ac.

@@TranslucentOrigin No, but it's not difficult to do. Just punch a hole through each corner of the filter and attach it to the back of the fan with zip ties (cable ties) and make sure the arrow on filter is facing in direction of airflow of course. Use a filter that's like ten or eleven merv. Filter should measure 20" x 20" x 1"

It's been about a year, what are your thoughts currently on this filter? Still buying this particular filter?

I'll upload a follow-up video during my upcoming filter change next month. In the meantime - the filter works great! Helps with my out of control allergies. And you don't have to replace this filter as often.

Yes. I have this terrible downstairs neighbor who cooks really smelly foods everyday. I got home one day and said enough was enough. I bit the bullet, and it cleared out that strong odor in 15 minutes. I have a 600 sq ft apartment.

Any other buyers also surprised by how "loose" the charcoal "flakes" appear to be sprinkled on this filter? I JUST picked up at Walmart and there's already charcoal bits that came off and are "floating" around on white cardboard casing. Like dark sprinkled on white cake frosting....very odd 😂. (I thought it would be like the charcoal filter in my Oransi air purifier... contained WITHIN the filter, not look like a kid is doing a friggin ' glitter craft project!) I'm desperate though, so going to try this in my electric heat pump. Used filtrete in the past & really like, but need some odor control added on. Glad to be out of Walmart... screaming kids, etc...next time I go MUST go earlier...some fun stuff there, just like it better when I have aisles to myself 😬

Yes. I just bought this and saw all those flakes. Was wondering if they were going to clog the blower or even poss get recirculated back thru the vents

@@April-sp8un yeah....I'm still on fence on these... definitely helps with odors, but flakes seem to create all new interesting odors themselves...😐🤔😒

I returned mine b4 using. Didn't want to take chance on those flakes and wasn't getting right responses from co. Bought that one they sell at hd that has green in front carbon on back with plastic frame and you cut to fit your register. Seems a lot more legit and no flaking or rubbing off.
