Great collection! I knew vaguely of pearls from the Americas but have not seen such an extensive selection in one presentation. They are beautiful. I understand why rounds are popular but I have always preferred the baroque shapes. Thanks, I definitely want to add at least one to my collection if I can.

Absolutely great video!!!! I was hoping you would mention abalone pearls (since I live in California….i have found 2 in my whole life)…..wow I love your content soooo much! I always learn a lot!!!! One time, my friend and I gathered mussels for a delicious meal. She opened a mussel and there were around 5 PINK “seed” pearls! Small but wonderful. Thanks for this video once again!

One rather prefers natural pearls, especially fresh water ones, to the farmed ones . Have seen fresh water mussels in France the length of saucers, jealously protected by a family living in the château for centuries. The slightest pollution in the water and a whole population is no longer.

The GIA Pearls and Graduate Pearls programs are reasonably priced and definitely worth it if you own pearls and want to be sure you're not making mis-identified or overpriced purchases in the future. Highly recommend.....On a funnier note, always double check any cooked mollusk you plan on eating before chomping down hard and chipping a tooth on a pearl. 😲

I second this. I have chomped on a blue mussel pearl and that think hurt. I managed to keep it as a souvenir, it's very small, but I keep it in its original shell!

Thank you Gina! I actually got oysters last year sometime and found a completely natural pearl in one of them. I have it in a special place but have no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions?

So in theory if you took one of the snail formations and cut it open would you find remnants of a snail inside?
