It's not that powerful. Since you previously edged the lawn it cuts easily. If you do a lawn that has not been trench for a year you will realized how under powered the edger really is. I have the same unit, love it, but you will need to keep on top of your lawn edging throughout the year. To get more torque adding the 9 amp battery, I also use a 3 edge blade to help with cutting over grown lawns. Helps limit the unit from stalling. Unlike a serrated type blade a flat blade can be sharpened. constantly.
