The only downside is that the star is not laser engraved and segmented like the actual movie prop. Beyond that, this is fantastic. Even the carrying case alone makes it easy to transport when you're moving you're going to convention and you're doing cosplay. This is a sound investment brother.

Skip to 8:00 to see the shield. He narrates everything he's gunna do long before he does it. Instead of him just doing it, you'll sit through a speech and slow movements.

Its not bullet proof. and as he said in the video, its made out of fiberglass, but if you want a metal one you can check out King Arts.

Hi Maliky. I got it from a collectible store in Brussels. I'm afraid it sold out in a day so the only chance today is probably eBay and places like that.

600 euro for a fiberglass replica is a bit too steep in my opinion. You can buy a blank aluminum shield and paint it yourself for under 250 euro. Or you can buy an steel sled and strip it and paint it for 100 euro. Anyways, nice video showing all the detailing on the shield! It helped me make a decision ^^

+Slimshadow457 It depends what you are after. This is not an idealized replica. It's made out of fiberglass because it seeks to replicate the actual prop used when filming. Not the fantasy shield. I can understand the interest in a metallic shield - but that would make it an idealized shield.

DarthChrisDK They use multiple shields when filming. Just like they have multiple Iron Man props, as well. For instance, in most promo shots for The First Avenger, Chris Evans had a steel Shield (by promo shots I mean actual shots from the film distributed to sell the film, not just posters and stuff). It really depends what they need in the shots, but in most shots where the shield is prominent, it's metal. He only really uses polypropylene shields in running shots. Just like Iron Man helmets and gloves (some are made of actual metal, some are made of composite foam, some out of PP). But yeah, I'm definitely after a more realistic look than the fiberglass shields. It's for a cosplay and I'm looking to get the best looking shield possible. I love the fact they sort of made the shield have a 'brushed metal' sort of look in the movies, and that texture is only really achieved with metal.

+caspernice caspernice Det tror jeg skifter meget. :) Så vidt de kan undgå det bruger det jo materialer der ikke kan gøre skade på skuespilleren. Det kan godt være de bruger metal-skjolde i enkelte scener, fx close-ups.

I believe this shield is made in China and looks exactly like it. The last time I checked it was $250 with free shipping. It is just hard ABS plastic, not fiberglass. Also, the star is wrong and the color is off. one hell of a boring prop/ Sometimes I think its pointless to go with officially licensed replicas. Instead its better to go with custom made ones. You get truly unique item thats of much higher quality than this piece of fiberglass made in china.

Verithiell While I don't fully agree, I value your opinion. I know replica items is a topic that means different things for different people. :) All I can say is that I am quite satisfied with this particular rendition.

DarthChrisDK To tell the truth, I'd probably be satisfied with it as well. Although my collector's expeience from the past taught me one thing: custom items, if ordered from right people, aare much higher quality. Mass production means compromises, sometimes way too many of them. Add to that high price tags all of those items bear and you certainly end up with something that could have been better in one way or another.

Verithiell Agree. TheRPF is a very good example of how custom and private creations achieve something much better and authentic than mass produced consumer products. I think one significant advantage with many licensed prop replicas is that the aftermarket price of these often are within a certain range, be it high or low, whereas the price of customs depend on one being able to find the right buyer that will acknowledge the quality of the piece. But there are many aspects of this.
