The CNCDepot S30 is a 2.2kw ATC spindle with pneumatic power drawbar. The version I got is the ceramic bearing version for a top RPM of 24k. Follow along as I unbox it showing what all comes in the starter kit and providing feedback on my initial impressions.

Awesome video! And thanks for the shoutout! Now I totally want to build a router with this spindle!

Once I had my first ATC, I never wanted to touch a pair of wrenches to add/remove a tool again.. Now to build the wine rack and script the ATC.

Been Running My S30 On A CNC router parts pro machine for Several Months Now In My Cabinet shop. Have Had Zero trouble with it. I didn't believe that the passive cooling would worked But it does. Over heated it once on a 100 + F day out side Cutting MDF with the Vac on warming the shop up. the last sheet of a 15 sheet run The temp sensor shut it down Waited for it to cool off a bit and Finished the job. Other than that it has never stopped. Honestly it was to hot for me to be working. If your thinking about the S30 I would suggest doing it for sure it has worked well for Me. i saved a lot of time on each sheet as I used to do 4 bit changes Manually. I run cutters up to 2" diameter so far. I don't have it as a full ATC using the tool holders I will be interested to see how you do it and How the clear paths like the heavier spindle They are next on My list.

Wow! Great feedback. I am looking forward to 20 second tool changes even if they are manual. I am looking at setting something up for full ATC using the 10” at the back of the 4896. I figure I can roll the changer forward and back, maybe pneumaticlly? TBD. But I’ll share the design if I work something out.

I'm Thinking the same thing. the other thing was Lengthening the machine to 10 feet so i could put the tools across the back and have the room for a second row in the future. Looking forward to watching your setup evolve!!

Can you show the process for setting up all of the pneumatics and connecting it to the CNC router parts controller?

Sure. Thought my electronics package on my CNCRP is custom.

I know this is 4 years later, but I'm on this part now (bought a used system and it was taken apart before I could review it). Did you ever find a good source of info for setting up the pnemuatics? Thanks!

Hows this spindle holding up for you? I have a small bridgeport I'm looking to cnc convert and was looking at the fm30f.

I beg of your help!!!! Just ordered the s30c starter package like yours, I have a 5x10 cncrp machine ran with mach3. I never used an ATC and while I'm waiting for the spindle to arrive I want to get all my ducks in order. Can you please tell me what I need to buy to get the spindle up and running? What do I need to hook up on the hitachi vfd, what setting I have to change to run the spindle with mach3 and the cncrp electronics package (nema 34)

I wish I could help more. For the most part it should be pin for pin. Because it can run off a PWM. I run Mach 4 and custom electronics but the actual Mach settings didn’t need to change much.

I was Looking to add one to my older cnc router parts 4x8. But thinking about upgrading first. Bought everything but spindle a year ago. But real estate is cramped for tool holders. Have Script for Atc For Mach 3 If you need it. I tested and everything worked fine. I believe it needed an additional mach 3 screen set I had to purchase. Let Me Know if you need script.

Thanks for the offer... I'm running Mach 4 unfortunetly, so I'll be having to write my own scripts in LUA because there is no backwards compatability between 3 and 4 scripts :-(.. I had an older 2x4 cnc router parts standard machine for a few years before I upgraded to the pro.. The Pro kit is worth the upgrade.. Just the move from the cold rolled rails to actual linear rails makes a marked difference. For the tool holding, I am looking at a movable tool holder, the back of the machine has about 10" of unused travel (well its used by the width of the gantry so the spindle can reach a full 49" and change).. I am thinking a small pnumatic actuator to push out and pull back a tool tray may be the way to go. That will be weeks from now.. Right now I got to get the machine making chips again.. Just upgrading to button press for tool changing and a tool-offset table will be HUGE time saver for me.. But the full ATC automation will come for sure; I've become spoiled having it on my Skyfire SVM2

Does the electronics that came with avid cnc handle the atc or did you add something to make it work.
@HandsonCNC

It is just the VFD so you need to work out your own solinoid for air switching to run the ATC.

"don't do that with the spindle" I'm curious why not? It should be able to take some serious thrust loading

air, though you can get a water attachment.. It does get hot... Depends on how much you need to run it to determine if you need the water cooling block.

Well Im still disappointed and undecided. After talking with cncdepot and double checking that Ive bought everything I need spent all the money I could give them its a big paperweight. The starter kit does not have a solenoid does not have airline does not have push fittings...is very difficult to figure out how to wire vfd based on instructions. It does not have a breaker switch fan or electrical box. Most irritating of all is now I think Ive finally wasted all needed extra time running around locally to try and get the bits....I still have to source a WRENCH! They told me they sent one. I did not receive it and they have not replied to my email since well before xmas. It is coming up on a year this thing has been unusable. YOU CANNOT GET STARTED WITH THE STARTER KIT
@HandsonCNC
@HandsonCNC 5 жыл бұрын
ick! sorry you had that experience... They must have improved their descriptions on the website when I ordered mine.. My starter kit had what I expected it to have.. I knew I would be needing to have.. Its definetly not plug and play like a CNCRouterParts plug and play kit.. (now there is an idea, CNCRouterParts and CNCDepot need to partner to make an ATC CNCRouterParts plug and play kit ;-).. )... Anyways, I hope it gets resolved soon for you..

I am beyond happy you wrote this comment. I was just about to pull the trigger on this "starter kit." Sounds like a nightmare. Glad I saved my money and the headache. If its not a product the average CNC owner can get up and running in a matter of hours then the seller has lost a huge part of its potential customers. Not everyone wants to be a computer/electronics geek.

@@garrydye2394 I may have sounded a bit raged. If I can get the thing happening in the next 4 weeks I will be happier and finish off an indepth post on cnczone on the wiring etc. I wouldnt rule it out yet. Im going to email them one more time today and see what they say about the wrench, as well the electrical box switch etc are to be delivered today. After I had received all this gak and ran around in circles buying parts I was told that others had been offered having cncrouterparts send their vfd box to nashville to have everything installed to be a plug and play. If you deal with cncrouterparts.com I would go through them to buy this unit. cncrouterparts.com has the best most knowledgeable quick support hands down. Ive dealt with FGP, Laguna, AXYZ and not to slag on them but I think CNCrouterparts beats them service wise. Im a small business myself so instead of removing my comment I wished to be fair by elaborating. If all goes well this will be a good value.

@Pat Quinn I have just seen these comments and am dissapointed that we have not received any communication from you in almost 5 weeks. Even though your setup is complicated with multiple spindles, etc, I am confident that we can help you to get it working if you will communicate with us and CNCRP. We will continue to do everything we can to help you get up and running.

@@patquinn8635 So your advice is to ask cncrouterparts to get the spindle and everything that is required to set it up?
