Merlin was getting berated in the KC discord after this stream. Specifically about the fact that their QC standard states these "unseen blemishes" are considered acceptable. This was after he made the comparison that he hasn't seen something like this from KBDfans boards lol. IMHO thats a rough look for such a "premium" board, you wouldn't expect them to fall back on their QC standards so hard. Just cause those areas aren't seen when in use doesn't mean they should look that brutal

that's because the keycult discord is potentially one of the most toxic, always-online meatrider servers in the keeb community. I am a huge fan of keycult overall (this is actually quite a surprising and a little disheartening video) but that server is legitimately one of the worst online interactions I've ever had in my life

Oh wow, Merlin was excited to see you finally get a Keycult but the brass weight is outright horrible I would expect that quality for B or C stock boards, but when you pay 600 and wait almost a year and a half that is not a product that should have been sent out.

I mean tbh its fine built but again 600 usd could let make better board. Also I think its their chinese board not new USA in house made. Though it had quality regardless very strange. All in all om outside it looks nice but that qc sadge

@@Donbros For some additional background, the TKL no1 rev 2 was the first (and likely last) wide release of a Keycult board offering an uncoated mirror-polished brass finish. One of the KC discord keepers (i.e., paid mods) mentioned that Jorge was unhappy with the factory delivered finish of the polished brass mid sections and was touching up the visible portions of those by hand. Some amount of inner blemishing is the trade off for the uncoated mirror finish, and at least some of it is leftover residue from the polishing compound - as using a cleaner to clear up the non-visible portions of the mid would risk tarnishing the visible mirror finish. I don't want to just give KC a pass for things like the streaking/vertical line on the top of the mid, but from what I understand, the non-visible portions of the bottom and sides of the mid in particular are going to be compromised by the nature of the finish on the visible portion. That all said, I assume Keycult will offer MechMerlin a replacement or exchange as he is clearly unhappy with the board (and yeah, I get it, even being familiar with their quality disclosure there is a fair chance I'd have a similar reaction).

Bro have they swapped our boards xd. I have a silver and brass No.1/TKL that is supposed to be B-stock due to "blemishes on brass", but I genuinely do not see it. Mine is sandblasted on the outside, but honestly though.

I tried commenting few times before, but they never showed up for some reason, potentially because I shared links. I also have an issue with my KC No 1 Rev 2. There is a very noticeable gap between the weight and the top case on the sides. Doesn't change the functionality, but doesn't look "high-end" either. I emailed them twice and it's been couple of weeks since my last mail but haven't gotten any reply back. For full disclosure, my unit was aftermarket so they are not obligated to do anything(which I mentioned in my email), but the fact that I got no reply means that they either don't check the email or backlogged a lot. I am curious if they are going to help you with your situation which hopefully they do.

I have question about the C3 daughterboard, does it also protect the boards from overclocking them to 1ms and 1000hz pull rate?

Keycult cool. Took an l on extras XD Merlin! I remembered keycult didn't make polished brass on extras! They said they had issues with weight indeed. I think it is something with polishing maybe those are bits of polisher

drop has Artifact Bloom series of keycaps that i prefer over GMK. they feel softer and the thoc is better. try them trust me. RIP Keycult, flip it for less than you paid for.
