Funnily enough a piece of the front of my bolt face broke off from firing it like three dozen times... So :| Good to know it's playable with some practice, but as I have stated already, I am a fan of the MKI system!

I purchased the MK2 Version. After I placed the order I learned about how they changed the bolt mechanism to a system where you fill the co2 in the actual bolt itself. If I replace the bolt on the MK2 with the one on the APS page, the SAI tianium nitride bolt as you mentioned will i get the CAM870 identical to the first version, or is the bolt they sell still a MK2 Version bolt system?

Well, funny you should ask. I have rebuilt mine a couple of times and had different spring lengths and here is what I found: "The APS CAM870 spring equation appears to be fairly linear. I have 3 known lengths of spring and which capacity they are for (shells in magazine tube). Then I just divided each spring length by the number of shells it would support. Capcity / Spring Lenght / Spring length per shell 4+1 = 40.5cm / 4 = 10.1cm 7+1 = 56.5cm / 7 = 8.0cm 9+1 = 75.0cm / 9 = 8.3cm So for my 5+1 rifle I split the difference and went with a length of 9cm per shell cut it down a spare 7.5"/7+1 spring I had laying around down to 45cm." - Me

Thank you for replying. I mean to use old real shotgun cartridges to replace the expensive bought ones because in a skirmish setting there's always a risk of losing the ejected cartridges. I don't mean to use live dangerous ones though, they are spent ones from my local clay shoot.

Right. No. It won't work for several reasons but one is that the APS CAM870 barrel is an off-spec non standard gauge size so real shells won't fit in there.

Thanks! Let me try and break down your questions. SMART shells are much more preferable than MKI shells due to the easier loading/filling methods. Neither shell can compare to an HPA configured system and I have not used one either so I can't say how they compare. Power and range of the APS CAM870 system are designed for CQB ranges, which are normally 0-15 meters. If you want a shotgun that can do more, this platform is not the right one for you. Upgrades that I recommend are: Reinforced bolt, push pin etc. Anything bolt related as it takes a lot of stress. Follower for better feeding and less jams. Enhanced sear/C-plate. Magazine tube cradle arms. Soft shell carrier spring. Anything other than that is purely cosmeltical in my opinion. The comment regarding the TiN push pin hole is for very old original MKI systems (day 1 release) and should not apply any longer. Either way, because of how much work and trouble it is, and risk of damaging parts and affecting fit, I would recommend just buying a new complete bolt and keep the one you have for spare parts. Disassembly and reassembly of the bolt is not exactly a smooth process and should be avoided if at all possible.

Right. I would not recommend doing that at all as it is not what the shells are intended to handle, obviously. Again, the APS platform with the gas-in-shell design is not meant for power output but realism and CQB play. If you use 2x 12g and you don't puncture both capsules during installation, the output appears weaker. However when I tried to use 88g shells I found they were alot more difficult to fill the shells with. The actual pressure of the CO2 should be roughly the same regardless of the source. From an integrity perspective the MKI and SMART shells should be able to handle same amount of pressure. I would recommend WGCShop as a source for SMART shells.
