Today we unbox some incredible praying mantises produced by Luke, a 9-year-old in California! These were purchased to resell in our retail store, and we were so impressed by him that we decided to share them with you :) Luke is a great example of how younger enthusiasts can do great things for the reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate hobby!

Normally I'm a little iffy about "encouraging" young kids to be into breeding as its a lot of responsibility but this kid made his own micro-terrariums just to transport them... you go kiddo!
@Lexzah
@Lexzah 3 жыл бұрын
I agree that kids shouldn't be left alone to try and do this stuff on their own with no real help. But with the right help and encouragement and support they can be as great if not better than adults. My sister was a guinie pig breeder at a young age. And she was great at it, she put so much effort into her pigs. Cause she had all our support to make sure she did it right.
@zakuraRabbit

@@Lexzah I started breeding rabbits at 16 and that was an absolute disaster XD Thing is a lot of kids will say they want baby animals, who doesn't... but very few are prepared for the responsibility.

If feel like it should be encouraged. I bred mice when I was younger and it taught me a lot about being responsible as an adult.
@the_undead
@the_undead 3 жыл бұрын
@@itsthatonechickagaincallth7843 the problem with that is that the majority of children are not responsible enough to be able to breed animals at all regardless of how much assistance from their parents they get, unless their parents do all the work. At which point the kid isn't being taught anything and the parents are wasting a lot of money.

I grew up in Japan and mustering up courage to pick up a Japanese giant mantis (they are everywhere in fields) was a rite of passage for little kids. And those giant mantises feel truly giant in little kids’ hands. To me, Luke is a hero for handling so many mantises! Also, I’m SUPER impressed with Luke’s professionalism and all the thought and passion he puts into his mantises. His excellent handmade habitats and including care guide handouts for the customers really blew me away!

I actually bought a pregnant female from fishland (out local petstore) where i got 2 feeders for my snake,and 4 for pets (incluing the female) she had her babies like a week ago,and now we have 6-12 pinkies,they should start growing fur in a few days,we will either feed or sell them at around hopper size.
