For only $60, and even cheaper on a sale, this is a great controller. The button layout is very handy. The D-pad is very good and I would say a good bit better than the standard Dualsense, but it still can be a little inconsistent in reliable presses but not as inconsistent as the standard Dualsense. This controller is also great for shmups because the analog stick feels tight and snaps back to center quickly, cleanly, and crispy. And I owned The Victrix pro controller. I would much prefer the Hori over that one.

Been meaning to get the Hori FC Octa for a while. But I want to see if Razer is going to release a new fightpad based off their Wolverine V2 chroma controller.

I like it except one issue: I would use the analog stick if I was going to play a fighting game on a pad and any controller where the thumbsticks are in that bottom middle position is a deal breaker. Early in a generation's life when Im playing console games I gravitate more to Xbox until I find a nice Playstation 3rd party controller with a more normal layout and gravitate more to PlayStation then. So my gaming collection will have more 3rd party games on Xbox earlier on in the generation, and PlayStation towards the end.

I love this fight pad. If it had the softer D-pad of the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma Pro Wolverine as well as the ability of being wireless it'd be perfect.

I used this controller for about a month . I have a love / hate relationship with it . It’s nice hori finally implemented a touch pad Hori finally went with the wing arm design Hori took a page out of Madcatz last fight pad’s book and added an analog stick , which IMO , surprisingly satisfying , but not my preference with the D Pad Speaking of D Pad , what I liked about it tho it’s like a neo Geo pocket dish style ? Is you can adjust the sensitivity through the Hori software that you download onto your desktop of choice . Read some forums and followed the advice to drop the cardinal direction sensitivity by -1 increment : which will then allow for diagonals , quarter circles , half circles , charges to pull off mush more fluidly 🥊 The face buttons have me nervous because they remind me alot like the Mortal Kombat X PDP fight pads and the R1 / R2 face buttons after a month felt like they were beginning to sink in. Alot of other reviews say the d pad eventually breaks in short time of use and same with the triggers which most make complaints in general out of the box , but I actually like the bumpers / triggers but once again ! You do not like even the button mapping layout you can adjust all of those settings within the Hori desktop software that you download off of their site. I’m telling you now this controller is not for everybody , I got used to it but traded it with $20 to get a back up Hori Fighting Commander PS3/PS4 for the turbo button , compatibility of desired platforms and that fat cross d pad that until recently grew a new appreciation towards . Which btw the Hori Fighting Commanders for PS3/PS4 both the FC4 ( Pro ) version and the reversion after with the more Sega-ish shape have gone up significantly in price since the release of Street Fighter VI, so if this is for ps4 and pc use keep in mind there are many other options outside of the Octa and Victrix such as the PowerA Fusion , Madcatz SFV pads ( second revision with the cross dish preferred) , and the Razer Raion which there is both a first revision with no pivot in the D Pad and the second revision which I wish I had come across to try and get a feel for that has the pivot. PS5 is kind of stuck with Victrix and Octa currently unfortunately for options.

The Dpad is actually actively damaging my thumb using it everyday, i bought it exclusively for SF6 but im getting turned off the game because playing Classic with shoulder attack buttons on the PS4 pad is unintuitive af despite it having a really really good dpad 😢
