We are with you, anyone who has built knows how frustrating it can be when having to deal with inspections and codes. Just do what needs to be done and all will be good. Just keep moving forward and know we are here to support you without criticism. Sorry for the extra expense, but you have the right attitude. Go Hollars!

You recently said, "One step back, two steps forward." Looks like code enforcement just made that seven steps backward, one step forward. That was a lot of precise, hard work you just had to dismantle! I'm so sorry you can't just build it the way you started to, but you have a GREAT attitude. So it's back to the drawing board? it won't be any time before you're knee-deep in the rebuild and this will all be history. At least you have four strapping young guys to help you. Good luck from here on out, Ben. You got this. ~ The B roll was absolutely beautiful and the choice of music was perfect for a rainy day.

It's good you talked with the Housing Inspector before you got too far into it, and it sounds like you have a good guy there. You guys are the first homesteaders I watched back when you were living in California, and I have watched you and your friends over the years, I believe I started watching in 2018, now your family feels like my family, Ben and Meg could be my grandkids :) Good job guys!

Check out a book from the library called Building Materials and Methods. It is a text book that drafters learn from. It will tell you everything you need to know and what materials you need and why. Before you pour your footers make sure you look up anchor bolts and your local code requirements since you are in the tornado region.

Worked in Planning for 30 yrs. I was thinking NC must be super lax bc those pylons support a mobile built on a metal trailer frame & your new build is stick built- are not even slightly related. You could have added a mobile next to it & tied them together as one. it appears their codes are in line with most developed areas. I ❤ building SO much, this is SUPER fun!!! 👍👍

Those moments are so rich in the teaching of life. All of us struggle with trials and tribulations. When we are creative and think out of box and get things done sometimes we have to go bad redo and fix things but that how learn. Standing still and worrying about a project stops a lot of folks from even starting. I love how you parents are always so positive and show that life still goes on. Work with what you got. I am an artist, and part of that is making so many mistakes, ripping out, tearing down and starting over. But at least I always get my hands dirty and come up with stuff that is unique and fun. Keep up the good work you both are beasts at whatever you do. Stay strong and carry on.

But, I thought, "Building codes are probably a lot different from state to state". I heard how upset you were on Shop Talk. I don't blame you! I thought about saying something but I figured it would be too late anyway. Like I said, sorry this happened to you. I think you will be happy with the outcome. At least it's not California code you have to build to anymore. If I was an hour closer I'd survey it for you guys and send data to a SE (structural engineer) in our firm that owes me some favors. With the red tape its amazing that anyone can afford to build anything these days. Glad you are taking it in stride. I'd probably stew on it and find a loophole.

Geeze, setbacks are a bummer but your attitude is good considering… at least on camera 😂ROFL😂 A BIG SHOUTOUT TO ALL THE KIDOS 📣📣. Always there when needed. They may not truly appreciate having to help but down the line.. years.. they will look back with such admiration for you & Meg. Even Lol Missy is watching & learning! This family ROCKS🪨 👵🏻👩‍🌾❣️

It would be nice if you could sit down with inspectors, say this is my measurements, this is my plan, then instead of ripping stuff out you were able to do it right from the beginning but... Yeah it's frustrating, but you're going great! I'm so amazed! Well done HollarMen

You should go ahead and dig out a root cellar under the deck with a trap door down to it from the new pantry!! Blessings to you all.

Very positive! This probably would have reduced me to a little foot stomping (internally). I look forward to the next step!

Bummer to have to undo, but you have a great attitude, lots of helpers and at least it will not take much time and will go fast. AND it will be up to current code❤
