Not using Fillion is just criminal. He literally was in a fan film for it he wanted that part so bad.

As an Uncharted fan, I see many nodes to the games such as the outfit, ring, pirate ships, plane scene, crucifix, etc but not the character traits, chemistries and personalities.

Tom has an innocent face, nothing like Nathan, which has more sarcasm and confidence in his look, and manners.

I think my favorite quote from the developers and the actors were “there will never be an uncharted movie because the games are interactive movies themselves”

I would really like Hollywood to finally understand the difference between good casting and popular casting. We know that celebrity sells, but even a lot of fans who love Tom Holland look at him here and don’t see Nathan Drake. It’s not just about him looking young, it’s the overall mannerism and tone.

The downward trajectory begins when Wahlberg gets cast in anything, he’s got all the talent and emotional range of an unremarkable bowel movement. I agree that Holland is totally wrong for Nathan Drake. This couldn’t be worse, really. I shall watch the fan version again and happily live in denial that any official attempt exists.

I felt the same. This could be an entertaining film, but probably not a good one. The Nathan Fillion "fan fic" version was probably the most authentic feeling Drake we will get to see.

Nathan Fillion is 50 at this point in time but despite that, from what I see he's still physically capable to return as Nathan Drake, my boy deserves a big time Uncharted Movie. He proved from the Short Film that he is perfect for the role. Hell I think James Gunn could do a Uncharted Film with Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake and Micheal Rooker as either his partner or Antagonist.

I have never found an instance where both fans of a franchise wanted a specific actor to play a roll along with the actor in question wanting to as well. Sometimes production companies just need to listen to what the fans want, since that oversight will probably cost them big time when this movie comes out.

This movie just looks like the remnants of the Pre-Email leak era of Sony. They couldn't let go of Wahlberg? Why were they so deadset on him being in Uncharted? They let go of how many good directors but kept him? This is a Wahlberg/Spiderman movie with a coat of Uncharted paint. What ever you think of those Wahlberg action movies and their quality, that's what this is gonna be. They never wanted to make an Uncharted movie, they wanted a Wahlberg action movie and have been brute forcing the Uncharted franchise into that mold for the last decade of production hell.

I honestly believe that Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake would’ve been 100 times better followed along with J.K Simmons as Sully.

I never understood why every video game has to become a movie since that really got nowhere. In my opinion, a TV series is better that way, you give room for characters to breath and have development, built the world they’re in, and because like a video game, each episode can be like a level, until the final episode is basically boss battle. It’s not that hard.

If you really needed an actor to play Nathan, I think Tom Cruise could have played an older more gruff Nathan. He already does his own awesome stunts. The stuff he does in Mission Impossible could be seen in an Uncharted game vs a James Bond type.

I've yet to play the Uncharted series, but even I can tell that Nathan and Sully are not cast right. Tom Holland doesn't seem like the right choice for Nathan Drake, and Mark Wahlberg definitely doesn't seem like a good choice for Sully.

I saw the advert by chance. Only until the iconic plane scene I realised, “oh isn’t this this Uncharted?”. Honest nothing feels like the game in the trailer.

I was so happy to see this thumbnail. It was kinda upsetting how many fans were raving about Tom in the official trailer. He is Spider-Man not Nathan Drake. The casting choices could not have been more disappointing in my opinion. I am a huge Uncharted fan and would have been so stoked to see this movie if they didn’t ruin it by picking actors who are in no way suited to play these iconic roles.

I too am a MASSIVE fan of the Uncharted series, and I was sooo damn excited when I heard they were going to make a movie, I was thrilled until....I heard who was cast, and I was was like WHAT??? After seeing the trailer now I highly doubt I will go and see it. I am incredibly disappointed on the tone, cast, and everything else in this. Doesn't appear to follow cannon from what I can see. This was the only video game movie I truly wanted them to get right, and I can tell you it looks like every other failed attempt. I am actually convinced that you can't adapt a video game to a movie. I think it has to to with the type of medium video games is. Clearly, by now someone would have been smart enough to figure out the formula, but I just think it's like mixing oil and water. they just don't go together.

I'm really conflicted about this one. Like yes, Tom Holland was definitely a stunt casting. But also, he's legitimately a very good actor. But ALSO, his voice just isn't right for Nate. Ultimately, I'm just going to try and watch the movie with no expectations and let it speak for itself. I hope we're all pleasantly surprised.

Making an Uncharted (and even TLOU) movie is redundant, as those properties are really less "video games" as they are "interactive narrative experiences." Especially the first TLOU and the fourth Uncharted. Love them dearly, but they're in a space that's simultaneously a movie and a game, so making a movie out of them strips the essence. This is like when they tried to make a Max Payne movie all over again.

Is it just me or does anyone else remember Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake in that oneshot? Maybe he'd be a bit too old, but I thought it was pretty spot on. Far better than this. What could have been.

My first ever console was a Playstation, and when the Xbox 1 came out, I switched, missing Uncharted 4. My biggest problem with the movie is that Nathan Drake's arc is complete. He's grown past being a greedy treasure hunter that's betrayed by the ones he trusts, and doesn't believe himself to be capable of good. He's grown past his cynicism. But giving him an origin story when we don't need it is equivalent to putting Darth Maul in media after his death was shown. It just didn't need to happen other than to get money from fans.

I think that the plan for this Uncharted movie is to make it kind of a prequel for the rest of the Uncharted series. This, in order to let Tom and Mark grow up (physically) with their characters as much as possible. That would explain the absence of Elena but the presence of Chloe. If that turns out to be the plan, man, I´d go down with that. But the weird thing is that they´re mixing plots and elements from the four games in a single movie... and that movie looks so much like a prequel! That´s what worries me the most, they need a miracle in order to make this work properly.

Uncharted 1 was one of the first playstation 3 games I ever got and immediately fell in love with it. The sequels just added to that. Seeing this trailer makes me think the creators behind it havent played a single one and watched a "Top 10 Uncharted moments" on KZfaq and threw all that shit into it. It just feels so off its ridiculous.

No proper climbing/parkour scenes. Let's hope those things are at least in the movie

I’m agreeing with absolutely everything you said and I feel exactly the same! I am huge fan of these games they are in my top three most beloved games of all time, I played through them so many times that I’ve lost count. This trailer it’s just painful to watch. I feel that it would be better for them if they would distance themselves from the games completely instead of recreating the scenes. Doing completely 1000% original story would brought new and old fans, old ones perhaps just out of curiosity. They are doing scene recreation which immediately triggers comparisons, in light of which this trailer looks like a completely mess. I don’t think that this movie will be enjoyable for fans, perhaps for new comers. They should leave Uncharted as it was.
